If it was definitely looking into my property, I don't have a gun, but I have a garden hose with decent water pressure :D

This is the type of stuff that is giving gun owners a bad rap. Firing a gun in the air is illegal in most states anyway. I understand the privacy issue. No, these clowns shouldn't have been flying their drone over his property. They got what they deserved. On the other hand, this jerkwad should have called the cops and told them what was going on. Not take it upon himself and shoot it down. Whether he should have to repay the full amount of the drone is not for me to decide.

If it's in your backyard with a camera that is invasion of privacy.

Shotgun with bird shot. No chance of damage to anything when the BB's fall to earth.

I'm not that bothered that he shot it, the owner is an idiot if he's flying a camera equipped drone onto private property. However, this sentence strikes me as a little silly:

Of course it's different, if the drone owner himself was standing there staring you wouldn't just shoot him.

Some people would shoot first, ask questions later.

God bless America. I wish I was an American so I had gun to shoot down invaders. I mean it's my own personal life.

I remember lovely and amazing sign:
    "Trespassers will be shot."
    "Survivors will be shot again!"

    My opinion:
1st) calling cops for drone flying around with camera? OK, they'll get report, unlikely to find it or owner. = practically useless
2nd) shooting it with weapon which does not pose danger to others is not that bad thing
3rd) those drone guys are lucky that they can talk about it after coming to man who's privacy they invaded
4th) I would just rock it down if I thought it is of any harm to me. If it was too high to hit, I would let it be and build 2.4GHz scrambler (should not be illegal anywhere since it is unlicensed frequency band).

Edit: What I wrote, I did as owner of several RC models.

I personally believe there should be no laws against owning a gun. We know criminals don't follow the law so the only ones who are unarmed are the law abiding citizens.

Completely sympathise with the guy who shot the drone down. In my mind it's no different from illegally planting a camera.

give the guy with the gun a BIG cookie. i would have done the same. i mean hey, if you peep into my house, i will shoot you in the face. and the guys who pulled up to his house,.....well, they should have been shot as well.

good thing its not a problem where i live (yet). once it does become a problem, i will have some 'suicide drones' setup. pew pew fookers! pew pew!!

oh its only bad because the guy shot it down with a gun?maybe he should get the prosecutor to look and see if he has naked people on his cloud or hd I bet u find under age kids that are semi naked on it....then it brings this drone thing to a new level .
the drone operater broke more then 1 law by flying it where it was.
they should end all this drone bs and make you have a pilots license to fly it or buy it.
sorry jr. but that's my opinion on it.
ok say if it came down and hurt somebody? there is no way to tell whos it is right? but if it had idk say I chip that has to be on it(that's right jr you have to ask mommy for more cash to get the next one)I think they are used for crime just as much as pleasure sometimes at the same time

The moral of the story is that it is illegal to be physically present as a peeping tom and look into people's windows, but it's perfectly legal if you do it remotely via a camera on a drone.

Peeping tom's rejoice! You have been vindicated in court!

Now the following is completely inappropriate, and it's not meant to offend anyone. It's just making a valid point (I by no means condone such, or associated behaviour)
Who needs child porn on their computer when you can get a live feed?

I think I've highlighted a valid point there, not in what was said, but in the fact that if a drone was used for such a thing, does it still make it wrong for the person to shoot it down? (of course not). Of course, for all we know the drone could have been used at the time for such behaviour, or trying to perve on women in general, you never know.

The people with the video could show the video if they recorded it, but does that make it any more a rightful situation? Whereby the accused offender, in this case the person who shot it down, had no knowledge of it's intended purpose, and that it could have been used to pry on women, men, or children.

They are RC controlled, most of them has GPS. You can jam both.
