Hi guys. Hope you can help... Google doesn't! LOL When I try to install Win 10, and I have tried via Windows update, via USB and also via ISO/DVD, I get the following error, and it's bugging me big time! 0x80070004 - 0x3000D The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation. This always happens between driver installation and settings configuration. Any help would be appreciated from you hero guru's! I have seen this error mentioned during win 8 upgrade to win 8.1, but the circumstances do not seem applicable to this issue. Thanks peeps! Steve
Seems to be related to a corrupted user profile and/or drivers. Try the steps listed here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...4/970909c3-e03e-4cd6-ac09-97d3dea3cc62?auth=1
Happened to my tablet trying to upgrade from an earlier build, apparently it can something as simple as a desktop icon causing the migration error, you can fix it by choosing to "Keep nothing" when you upgrade, or check the logs and it should tell you what it couldn't migrate
C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources according to this (Still waking up, I`ll double check after my coffee) http://brandonpotter.com/2012/10/29/windows-8-setup-setup-has-failed-to-apply-migration-data/ That's a hidden folder, so you'll have to enable hidden files and folders from the view menu
