Is the GTX 690 still a good card? I heard that it can support DX12 when released. Has latest drivers made it even better , matured with age? Am thinking of a lot of things including this card. I can pick one up for £285. And i can't lie, am very tempted. Cheers. P.S. Is this page any good? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-review,review-32899-7.html S
Yes its a fine card and damn fast 2 gtx680 on one pcb its however limited on the 2gb vram so high resolutions in combo with max settings you will be limited. Edit; i didnt know about the dx12 possibility though that would a surprise if that will be.
1080 or 1200p its great, 2gb vram limit is no good for a lot of games at 1440p unless you turn things off ingame, less detail etc. Performance is great though.
You're better off buying a 970 and overclocking it, you'll get better results overall and spend less money. The 690 is still a decent card, but it's old tech and suffers from various limitations.
Ive got 2 sitting in my drawer unless you get to unlock the full 8gb of vram they have with (they say this might be an option) DX12 they are next to useless if you want serious eye candy when gaming.
It will be very interesting to see what they do with Dx12 and tbh although this memory usage sounds "too good to be true" well in my experience if that's the case then it usually is with anything in life. I just cant see it working for every single game out there without something stopping it like being enforced by Devs etc.
