    Title.

I got a placeholder right now (gtx570), and looking for a card to handle both Battlefront and Star Citizen as good as possible from 300-700$ (lower the better :/) from next november.

I guess Pascal would have been great (hype ftw) but it probably won't be out until.... April/May next year?

i can wait a couple of month from november but i wont wait july 2016 :/

The best card in that budget will be the 980ti. Fresh out in a few days.

Yep I would get the 980Ti

but maybe wait a short while and see if the R9 390X has any benefits over the 980Ti because on paper its specs should put it a bit faster than the TITAN X and 980Ti by around 10-15%. Obviously at higher resolutions, but the 4GB limit might be an issue for the card, but then again its extremely high bandwidth may help greatly.

We should find out in a few weeks after Computex, then I would make a decision based on reviews and of course pricing.

    970

the lower the better you said, so thats it

they wont make any game that currently does not work at a 970 maxed, specially multiplayer, plus 970 does great on bf4 which is the same engine

not bcs of the 970, but bcs most people plays with less hardware.

Are you getting one, sticking with what you got or gonna wait for AMD?

Both of those games supports Mantle, and from what I've seen of Mantle in other games since I got my 290X, it can be a serious performance boost. In Thief, it literally doubled my avg. framerate.

My point is, please consider AMD if these games are your main priority. Also, it looks like your going to play at fairly high resolution. AMD cards usually experience less performance impact when increasing resolution.

    Yeah, I'm also curious... :nerd:

On topic: In your situation I'd wait for the Ti as well. I think it will be a beast of a card, only the price is what makes me wait with any final opinion.

If your not against SLI, two 4GB 960's perform well for the $. Cheaper than a single card, but its SLI...

I dont think eclap will ever go back to AMD tbh, he has been converted to Nvidia for Life. I mean we all know that Nvidia are loads better than AMD, everyone knows that. :D

I'm not actually looking to upgrade atm, the 970 does a pretty good job for me with the overclock I run. I'll probably skip the 980ti and see what's available end of this year or Q1/2016, be it Nvidia or AMD, I don't really care about red vs green, I'll get the card that offers best bang for £££. I've never had any brand loyalties ;)

No fanboyism in my blood guys, although I have to admit that atm Nvidia are ahead of AMD and are worth paying a slight premium for. For me it's inspector, shadowplay and more frequent driver updates that make Nvidia the better option. That being said, AMD cards have been solid recently, HD 79xx and r9 290/x have all been solid performers.

I can't really be converted one way or another, my first Nvidia was a riva tnt (skipped riva 128 because 3Dfx was just better) and I've owned a lot of AMD cards since then too. I do prefer Nvidia in all honesty but I'm a value for money junkie at the same time you see ;)

Oh I see somebody in trouble once both the Ti and the 390X are out :D
But yes, I can relate, that's why I went for nVidia too. I'm yet to use shadowplay and I'm an inspector noob, but boy that inspector is a handy tool!

Too, up until now, I've had more rigs running ATI cards than nVidia, so...

Lol yeah, seems there are now bigfish out there, either that or they are getting smarter.

Eclap fair enough but if you go back to amd I will eat my hat. :)
Once you get used to nvidia drivers there is no going back.

And the battle for his soul was yet to be fought...

    :vader:

To get things back to topic more or less, what's the OP's budget anyway? Today I've read that the Ti is rumored to come at just below 800$, is that a guess, or has something been released on that topic?

    800$ evga 980Ti.

As stated in first post, the main game i play are Frosbite and CryEngine based, both of which perform great on ATI. So, i weigh all my options here.

I won't buy until first feedback of Battlefront anyway. The way i see it: i've a great rig that can only be limited by the Gpu, so i want every $$$ worth out of the card(s)
