60709 INR is roughly 856 EUR which is roughly 955 USD

I hope that's not a sign of things to come... Though I wouldn't be surprised.

The stated value is interesting. 60,709 INR is $959.99 USD. I wonder why it's so high.

EDIT: DribbelDog beat me to it.

I hope it's not a sign either. The INR price converts to $954.99 which sounds like a price you'd find in a store...

Let's hope that just has to do with the exchange rate and cost of transport because at that price you might as well spend the extra $40 and get a full blown Titan X.

Is there some consensus about gtx970 rop count? nVidia states that 64 are enabled, but 8 of them are close to unusable due to connection.
Sometimes I see 56 sometimes I see 64. I would prefer to have there effective value 56.

Average price would be ~799 Euro and as usual up to ~850 with custom cooling solution from known brands.

    TBH I bet for this.

Where are the days when flagship GPU was 500$? Looks like nVidia started a new trend.

No, consumers did support it, that is sole reason why this practice is still around.
AMD will adopt it too sooner or later.

I really hope that won't be the case. Although I can't blame AMD if they follow suit with Nvidia-range pricing since they've been having a hard time lately.

But I do hope they smack the hell out of Nvidia with competitive pricing.

    Pre order..

Remember 290X and 780TI pre order prices? Both over 700 or even 800$. Then later actual retail price 550-650$.

If this is true, time to bow out of PC gaming after 25 years.

Btw, while we have 16/14nm behind corner they are not expected to be miraculous, 20% higher performance at same power consumption. So unless there is another uArch change they will not bring that much more performance as they will again target similar TDP.

Main question is price of transistor or square mm of wafer. If it is same as 28nm, then those chips will deliver up to 20% more at maybe 20% lower price per GPU (as more transistors fit same area or same amount of transistors will fit smaller area).
But how much would that decrease final price as part of price are components on PCB and PCB itself and then profit for AMD, AIB, companies doing delivery around world, stores.
I do not think prices would be lower for high end GPUs. But it will for sure increase performance / $.

If it's reasonably priced it will be win/win but if it does turn out to be ~$900+ then it will be disappointing, especially if the numbers posted in the other 980Ti thread are anything to go by.

At that point, we are talking about a GPU for console ports that costs roughly the same price as the 3 current consoles combined?

    Nope, not a chance.

When the performance gains start matching up with the prices, I'll be far more amenable to throwing money at Nvidia, but as things stand currently (small incremental performance increases and ridiculous non proportional price increases), I'll be sticking with the mid range.

I see AMD is jumping on the 'gouge' bandwagon as well

remember when the days the price of gasoline was only $2/gal? now the standard is almost 2x-3x that amount. it's just the evolving prices and cost of newer technology and supply and demand.
