It's as we thought, a return to the old... crappy Japanese PC ports. Thankfully we are used to such things, and I'm sure mods are on the way. We already have a nude patch on the way That being said, this is still the first game of the franchise to see its way to PC without emulation. If you're a die hard DOA fan on PC I'm sure you're happy to see it here... if only online worked. Here's some screens with a SweetFX tune up. More... Spoiler
This looks like a port from DOA3 on the first xbox. No online mp (edit: for 3 months) last gen engine I don't understand why people keep paying for such low effort ports. If people are that easily impressed, then keep expecting the same half arse games.
If they can enable the soft engine, particle effects, mulitplayer and add rumble to my controller I will be happy but as it stands I'm not holding my breath, this is a port of the lowest calibre, when you think about the power they have at their disposal with pc it's ludicrous they would release this game in such a state, really disappointing but atleast we have Tekken to look forward to
I just don't understand the reasoning. Last gen version (which looks like its built on an early build of UE3), I would've assumed would've been harder to port vs the current versions due to the whole similar architecture argument. If you're porting an inferior version of a game to another platform, why does it still ship with missing gameplay feature like mp? Laziness imo.
It's just money to these people it's really sad I mean this game could be a work of art if they actually cared instead we get this crap and apparently it's ported from the arcade version which also lacks particle effects and soft engine which doesn't bode well for getting these things patched back in.
I can only hope this gets the Dark Souls effect. Maybe the dev will take notice at how popular their game can be on PC and make an effort in the future to treat us better. Though, saying it looks like DOA3 is a bit much. It looks like a better version of DOA5 on PS3, but worse then PS4. I like to stay factual.
What? You mean like releasing the sequel with basic features such a standard resolution support, then re-release the same game but with an barely noticeable api update and charge people for it again? Yeah, I really hope that catches on Nvm that though, nude mods. Get of the house more often, there are real women out there y'know. (not directed at you Cyberdyne).
I love the DOA games but I'll be waiting for a sale or at least online mode to come out before I buy.
The re-release is a pretty bad example, lol. But Dark Souls 2 was a much better port then the first one. DS2 on PC at launch looked much better then any console version. Hell, both had proper online support at launch. And it's OK if that is directed at me. Both me and my girlfriend look forward to proper nude mods If a company wants to cash in by doing a lazy port, I can be OK with that. If this was say, 15 or $20. It has to be priced right. The lack of online, promised later or not, should make this $10. $20 if online worked. If you want to charge more then that, increase your quality, simple as that.
I decided not to buy this after finding out it's a duffer of a port. Was a big fan of the first two games but think I'll wait until this is in the bargain bucket (circa £10 or less) before purchase.
I support people who buy this game full price, they are helping convince devs there might be a a market for this sort of thing. I'm not one of those people, likely skipping it till it's on sale or on a console as i will likely get one of those soon enough, but those who do should be thanked for trying to change things. Can't be easy though, as this does not look worth the money, especially for people who use a PC monitor where local MP isn't ideal and online is essential.
The port is fine, runs great and looks nice with SSAA4 on and hi res shadows it looks way better than the ps4 version. whats not fine is no ****ing multi player! It's insane that they released it with a ..mp will come in 3 months.... that's just silly on their part. They would of been better just waiting until the game was finished.
Not quite. The missing soft engine is a huge down fall. It's a pretty cool feature on PS4/X1, allows for more realistic skin, clothes getting destroyed, and better jiggle physics. It still looks nice in HD and with AA, but it could have been a lot better. Watch Dogs looks nice on PC too, but once you start adding back the old E3 effects it looks a lot better.
I can do 4K downsampled to 1080p. Looks AMAZING and never goes below 60 FPS. And I'm actually impressed. Because, it's the only game that I can do 4K no problem.
That's good point - "If the price is right", Thought NZ$43 is a bit much imo, granted I was expecting it to be going for full price. I don't have anything against the developers. Im of the belief that they don't really have a say as to who, what, when, where and how, when it comes to ports. Theres a fine line between supporting ports and supporting the quality that they arrive in and having publishers thinking they can get away with whatever. Imo, for ports like this, I think steam should add a 'Pay what you want' option. Even if it means setting a minimum of $15-20. Remember, this porting business didn't start last year or the year before, its been going on since the days of the ps360. PC gamers have don't nothing but support it and yet as far as quality goes, whats changed? Nothing, the ports turn up in one of 3 states: Complete(content wise) and broken or missing features, but working. The AAA market knows that pc gamers buy their games and have done so for years. COD, how much does COD make on the PC year after year from PC gamers, yet for all the support, they cant even add dedicated servers . So where does this notion of if we support lazy ports from non-triple AAA studios, we'll get decent ports, come from? Not even the AAA market gives a toss about the pc, why would some Japanese developer/publisher? This is my last post about the "state of the industry"rolleyes, I'll stop ****ting in this thread while other people are trying to enjoy the game. Peace.
