Looks cartoon-like to me, not as realistic as other UE4 demos I've seen. Maybe the lighting is not as good in this demo, and I always thought lighting was the strength of UE4.
Interesting you should say that, Chris Roberts chose to use CryEngine for Star Citizen over UR for a number of reasons, one of which he mentioned was that Unreal Engine gave everything a cartoony look which he did not appreciate so much. EDIT: Still awesome they have made it freely available in its complete form. It going to really open its use up to so many, some of whom may get serious with it ^^
Cartoonish? What do you mean. It isn't super photo-realistic, but in now way is it cartoonish. The lighting also looked pretty good to me. Is your monitor calibrated?
my monitor is properly calibrated and I all I saw was graphics that looked slightly better than crysis 1. Texture obviously are higher res and lighting is stronger, but really? Is this it? Is this the best they can do with the engine? When are we going to get away from 2d paper foliage? That **** looked crap in 2001 and it looks crap now too. Also the water looked like oil not water. Defo tell it was being rendered by PhysX, which is just wrong to me. PhysX sticks out as being PhysX, its just not realistic looking to me.
you know what would look good with unreal 4 and megascans. A new MYST game. edit: well I got the unreal 4 part right.. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cyaninc/obduction
