Hi all, I haven't seen a thread about this game: Cities Skylines trailer Developers videos: Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 1 - Roads Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 2 - Zoning Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 3 - Natural Resources Dev Diary Review - Part 4 - Public Transport Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 5 - Outside Connections Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 6 - The Map Editor Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 7 - The Simulation Cities: Skylines Dev Diary Review - Part 8 - Districts and Policies It's a city builder game like Sim City and it will be released the 10´th of march
I'm still waiting for the real next SimCity. This one looked good on old videos, let's see if it has enough gameplay options to be satisfying.
The Cities games are junk. Stay away from them. I have XL2011 and XLPlatinum. SimCity is 10 times better than those if you can believe that.
Ok. I havent' played "Cities in motion" from the same developers as Cities in skylines, if that is the game you are refering to?, but actualy I did enjoy XL2012 in spite of the slowdowns as the city grew. There is something about planning and thinking about how you want your city to evolve in the future that is interesting.
Not from the same developers. Cities in Motion is a decent game, but it has so many limitations and some AI problems.
Cities XL and co is not related to this game. This is from the makers of Cities in Motion 1 + 2 I think they really screwed up with the name though, because they're getting a bad rap from Cities XL even though that's nothing to do with them. Even in the steam community forums.
Yes the name is to close to Cities XXL, but the game does have it's potential if the developers videos are true. (Added first post.)
3 "Live" stream videos of the game: Cities: Skylines live stream - Part 1 12.02.15 Cities: Skylines live stream - Part 2 12.02.15 Cities: Skylines live stream - Part 3 12.02.15
OK, the NDA on youtube videos and streaming has been lifted today. Watching some streams and it looks pretty good. Review NDA hasn't been lifted yet, think it'll be a few more days.
Looks nice. Gonna at least wait till people have seen how the game holds up in a more... endgame type situation. Even simcity looked fun for a few hours
Yep, seen a view streams of it, looks all around good. Reddit page here http://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/ Regular list of who's streaming and stuff, loads of videos on youtube by now.
Some things to note from what i've seen and read compared to Simcity 5, because what else would we compare it to. Cities are not limited in size, you start in a block equal to the largest Sim5 city and can expand 9 times in any direction in similar size blocks, there's 25 blocks total in a region and this can be unlocked via modding. 1 mill population limit, though i'm not sure if this is another thing that can be unlocked via modding, regardless your city is huge at that point No multiplayer at all Industry specific zones are much smaller (in SC5 like a coal mine buildings would be massive, taking up a 1/5 of your city), you do many industries depending on what you have underneath you, I recall that industries just take advantage of what is underneath them automatically. No day night cycle at all, days pass pretty fast, traffic doesn't have a day night cycle either, it just gets congested and relieves itself as time goes on, I guess that helps a bit for knowing bottlenecks. You have to deal with dead now, cemeterys and crematoriums, bit weird tbh. Bunch of other stuff, basically plays like SimCity 5 but better. Also, from the million streams i've seen so far, it performs good, no Cities XL here, SC5 level of performance.
Did you use a code on GMG? Not seeing one edit, got it, on the vip section, hell yeah im getting it for £16.50 http://www.greenmangaming.com/vip/
Just be aware this is a paradox game btw. Expect 2 billion DLC pieces. Hopefully this won't have held back content from the original release
