lately i bought Lenovo Z2 pro which is QHD? wtf? who needs it. battery draining sht.

And other phones with FULL HD screens. i would accept a HD screen for better battery life.

Since years phones cant get better battery lives proper***351;y but screen gets better and better. which negatively impact on battery. how come? RANT? pls.

Honestly when I went from the S3 to the S4, I didn't notice the jump from 720p to 1080p.

Anything above 1440p in phones is ridiculous anyway, but I guess today everyone wants to brag about their phone specs in numbers.

Well smartphones is a bigger market than desktop monitors, and everyone loves these days to have a cool smartphone and brag about it´s 1080p resolution or whatever for their friends even if they don´t know the implications of the specifications. It´s a status thing i´m afraid. Honestly when i bought my 5" 720p smartphone there was a better version of the phone with 1080p and i played with both at the store and couldn´t notice much difference screen-wise. They both had the same battery though. Mine lasts two days of normal use, the other one day and a bit from what i was told.

they need something to talk about when they launch a new phone you know.. but I agree I would rather have 128gb storage/720p that way I could get decent battery life..

its not just resolution though, phone screens are by far the best screens around nowdays, I would seriously get a 1080p OLED monitor rather than just another lcd with 4k

I agree with most, my Note 4 has 1440p and I cant tell. Even the YouTube videos that support 1440p, I can not tell the difference between that and 1080p one bit. My lady or my close buddy cannot either. I have a big feeling we will be seeing a lot of 4k devices hitting the market this year.

We need better battery technology! Anyone see that video with the high school girl that won second place at a tech fair? We need this!

Now that you mentioned... I was unsure about the resolution of my work phnoe (Lumia 635). Turns out it's 854 x 480. Good enough for that 4,5" screen.

Full HD and over that, perhaps good for those tablets with phone functionality.

On a small smartphone screen, anything more than 720 is overkill. Even on a 7" tablet screen 720 is fine. There's no need for full HD on such small screens. It's all about marketing hype.

indeed it is. geeks love NUMBERS.

I honestly doubt the screen resolution will be that much of an impact on phone battery life compared to screen brightness, screen being on or cell reception being on.

I do notice a difference between my note 2 and note 3 though, near same screen size but 720p vs 1080p.

Past 1080p though, screw that, can barely see the pixels on my 10" tablet

Galaxy S5 is my first 1080p phone, and image quality is amazing compared to all my previous phones, L625 was highest resolution phone before this one, think it was only 480x800

720p on my 8" tablet is sufficient enough.

I have Lumia 830 with 720p and Galaxy S5 with 1080p both 5 inches, and I don't notice any significant difference between the two..Both have crisp Displays.

Honestly I cant tell the difference between my wife's iPhone 6 screen and my HTC M8 once you get above 350ppi you cant discern the difference.

I think for a mobile device/tablet, 1080P is good enough...

Heck we have 50 & 60" flat screen television sets having only 1080P. Playing HD content with high bit rate still look excellent...

To. Low resolution of z3 and Samsung A5 gives amazing battery life. Shame on other models.

I'm with Bigtime on this, any device smaller then 5" 720p is more then enough and gives great battery life.

I've had my phone for 3+ years now, HTC something or other, 960p, more then enough and I still think battery life on it is crap.
