First of all hi to all then guru's in here. I am having serious problem(for about 6 months now),my pc shut down itself when i turn on my pc for the 1st time in the morning every time after 10-20 min. After shutting down i cant start the pc until i unplug the cable for 10-15 sec then i can turn on and it runs fine most of the time(i can play game etc without any problem) but lately pc turn of randomly even after the initial shut down.I cant figure out whats the problem.I monitored the temp of cpu and gpu its all normal even in full load.i tried changing the psu cable but nothing seems to work.i am guessing its psu but before replacing i want to make sure its the definitive problem.please help me. PS: sorry for my bad english.
System specs 1.Intel core i7 920 2.Msi 660ti 3.6 gb ddr3 ram 4.Thermaltake smart power 650 watt psu 5.creative xfi titanium 6.gigabyte x58a:ud3r mobo 7.generic samsung hdd one thing i noticed the psu fan is not spinning.
If its a thermaltake PSU then I think its the psu having some issues. I keep seeing thermaltake PSU's biting the dust lately.
I'm sorry, but your logic doesn't make any sense. I mean, I agree that it's probably the power supply, but your reasoning is LOL worthy.
Just looking at Guru3D the past 4 weeks I have seen 3 people who had issues with their Thermaltake psu's. Dunno whats "lol-worthy" about that, maybe I formulated it a little bit weird. My bad.
Ok i ran the pc after swapping the psu for an hour it seems good,no shutdown. But the thing is i am running the pc again with my old psu 1.30 hour and counting without any shutdown.. aah my pc just turned off just after i wrote..
Others having issues with their PSU isn't good reasoning for suggesting that someone else's PSU has failed just because it's the same brand. PSU's of all brands fail on a daily basis.
I wouldn't, but after reading this thread, I wouldn't buy a Thermaltake PSU. You mentioned some people having problems with them. The OP's problem is his Thermaltake power supply and another guy posted in this thread about a problem he had with one. The negatives are mounting up.
I wouldn't buy one personally, but they've had a decent reputation over the years. You have to keep something in mind. Most of the power supplies on the market, are not being sold by the companies that are actually producing them. Just because Thermaltake units are failing, doesn't mean the failures are limited just to Thermaltake. It's more likely that what we're seeing are issues with a PSU platform.
There was a time when Thermaltake Units were junk. Now they're pretty comparable with other brands, but they often use Channel Well and charge a premium that isn't justified. So I still wouldn't buy them at this point. Many better options to choose from.
