Hey guys. When i run 3dmark firestrike, it shows my reported CPU frequency as 4.2Ghz when i have OC to 4.6Ghz Ive also had seen it only at 4.2Ghz while in the physics test. When i stress test with prime, IBT... it shows in CPU-Z as 4.6Ghz.... whats going on? Do you guys have any idea? Looks like my score is suffering from it. Check my sig for my specs. Thanks.
^ 3DMark11 reports my CPU freq. incorrectly when OC'ed, so it's probably the same thing happening with you with Firestrike. It doesn't affect your score though, even if 3DMark reports only 4.2 GHz that doesn't mean your CPU would be running at only 4.2 GHz if OC'ed to 4.6 GHz.
No no, i ran CPU-Z on another monitor while it was running the bench. the whole time it was at 4.2Ghz. when stressing with prime, it will hit 4.6ghz...
And is physics score lower too, in line with lower speeds? Did you bench with windows high performance power plan?
What if you disable 3dmark's build-in system monitoring, or did you already tried that? idk what else could be limiting it, maybe updated 3dmark systemInfo scanner? since it also runs in taksmanager background.. Speaking of weird cpu readings, one m8's i7 2700k OC'ed @ 4.7ghz shows as 4.5ghz stock and 5.9ghz OC in firestirke (win8.1), the score and its physics was like @ 4.7ghz though..
Sorry, I misunderstood then. Seems odd though. Give -Tj-s suggestion a shot and report back. Weird that Firestrike doesn't hit full (oc'ed) turbo freq.
