Hello, first post, and quite the saga as I’ve never really had issues w/ my PC before – it’s about 3 years old and the GPU and PSU are about 2 years old.

Here is a condensed recap of what’s going on:
    - Started getting Blue Screen ATIKMPAG.SYS crashes
    - Went to Safe Mode to remove drivers using Driver Sweeper
    - Booted up in Normal mode w/ the windows SVGA driver and no issues – beyond the rez issue
    - Loaded the 14.8 WHQL AMD drivers
    - Rebooted and got the same Blue Screen ATIKMPAG.SYS crash
    - Did some research on the web and found the Guru3d recommended driver removal tool
    - Went into Safe Mode and used the tool to wipe the drivers
    - Rebooted back into Normal mode and loaded the 14.8 WHQL AMD drivers again
    - Rebooted and this time the PC reset twice and went to some sort of BIOS (?) screen that stated some sort of memory overload occurred and to hit F1 to resume loaded. So did.
    - Came to a b&w screen that asked me to start Windows Repair or start Windows normally
    - Optimist that I am I hit start Windows normally – and that repeated the cycle of BIOS (?) screen/hit F1/ b&w screen that asked me to start Windows Repair or start Windows normally
    - This time I picked start Windows Repair and it took a few minutes to roll me back to Normal mode w/ everything working – and the SVGA drivers
    - I then went into Safe Mode and used the Guru removal tool to wipe the drivers
    - Rebooted back into Normal mode w/ the SVGA drivers and registered/posted on this site

So, does anyone have suggestions on how I can fix this issue? Thanks in advance for your help here.

Try to uninstall your drivers with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller):

(Credits to Wagnard and the DDU-team)

    Driver Sweeper's time is over..

If you have already used DDU, then I would suggest a Windows reinstall because you're OS might be broken meanwhile with all the things that happened on it.

I know it might seem like 'WHAT reinstall my Windows?!' but I believe this might be the best method to make sure you have a clean system to work on and install the latest drivers of AMD.

Also try these latest drivers of AMD if you haven't already:

    AMD Catalyst 14.9.2 BETA (14.301.1006.0 October 9)

Thanks for the reply and a Windows 7 reload it is.

In the midst of backing up my files - approx. 450,000 so it's going to be awhile.

    I hope this works.

Reloaded Windows 7 - no issues there.

Tried updated AMD driver to 14.4 WHQL and got the following:

On Sat 11/1/2014 7:29:52 PM GMT your computer crashed
    crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\110114-26878-01.dmp

This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver that cannot be identified at this time.

Very frustrating! Any ideas? PSU issue? GPU issue?

I have my old 1Gig card. Should I swap cards and see if that works?

seems like you are having hardware issues, try swapping cards and see if it helps.

    Update:
    1. Installed new 850 watt PSU
    2. No issues there
    3. But received same BSOD error message when I uploaded new drivers

    So down to the following:
    A. Memory test = really doubt this is the issue but why not
    B. Swapping out the GPU for my old card = I am pretty sure that this will work as now I think the card is the issue

    Let's see what happens here.
