heat issue is non issue with proper cooling. Sure if they just slap in those basic amd horriburu cooled cards they will have heat issue. Else not so much.
Hmm I wonder why they are putting in a 4790k cpu because I seriously doubt that Apple would allow you to OC the cpu and I doubt that you could any way because of all in one design of the iMac.
They should stick with Intel and Nvidia due to their power efficient products. Anyway, doesn't matter for me now that Microsoft got its **** together.
Yeah Nvidia seems to really somehow know to compress TDP and performance into one little godly paste called a GPU. Dunno why they just didn't make a ripped mobility version of the 970.
It's because of Tegra. The GPU architecture is the same across Tegra and Geforce so they are optimizing their architecture for TDP, which is actually really smart for GPU's considering the workload. CPU's don't really scale up. Build a small efficient CPU you can't really just double it and get a good CPU on desktop, you need to build two different architectures. But for GPU's because the workload is so threaded, a GPU that works at low power/low cost can easily be scaled for high power/high cost.
the 4790k costs more than the non k version, basicly they can rip you off for more money like apple always does
Well Apple in the iMac use Mobile gpu's. Not desktop, and Nvidia dont have allready release a mobile Maxwell gpu outside the 750 based one. I really doubt Apple wanted to put a 980-970 in their iMac.. In addition, Nvidia have still not update their gpu ( pro or not ) to OpenCL 2.x and this coulld weight in the decision with the number of users of Photoshop, Premiere etc on iMac. Well this is just rumor so far...
Very true. I remember Apple charging extra to turn on Turbo boost mode in one of their versions of the Mac pros. I don't know if they still do that or not.
Also it depends on what AMD chips they are putting in the iMacs as well because we do not even know if the mobile versions of the r9 290 or 290Xs have the same black screen issue that their desktop cousin has. If they give an r9 290 or 290x as an option that is.
Its not flaming AMD, its more like making a harmless joke at a good friend every now and then. Ehh, I should probably shut up. I have never owned a Mac or a Laptop with a GPU from AMD anyway.
I am not flaming AMD nor Apple. I was just commenting on whether or not Apple might have problems with the R9 290/290x mobile cards and if the mobile cards have the same issues as the Desktop counter parts.
