    Hey Guys,

I am throwing my old 670 into my brother's computer so that he can play some games on it.. Currently it has one of my older 6870 in it, and so the 670 is a decent little upgrade.
The system though is a mashup of my hand me down gear. Its running a C2D 8400 with only 4gb ram (I have some spare I'm going to try to install to bring it to 8) and not an amazing power supply.

Are there any games you guys could recommend that he could play on it? I had installed Painkiller, Bioshock 1/2 and Doom 3 on it for him in the past which he enjoyed.. but am at a loss as to what else to put on there for him.. Anyone have some ideas?

Well pretty much any game from 2006-2011. The dual core CPU really hold everything back.

It really depends on his tastes.

If you don't care about resolution... you could try with Hitman: Absolution.Pretty optimized game.

^ yeah I realize the dual core is gonna be a bit poor for most games, but I figured if they are old enough it may not be too bad. I may try to source an older quad core just so that the 670 isn't bottlenecked so badly.

Thanks for the suggestions. he's mostly into FPS/TPS.. Don't think he enjoys RTS/RPG sports or racing..

COD4 is a good call actually.. I think I have a copy somewhere.

The F.E.A.R series is a good bet, that's three games for him right there. The third isn't as good as the first two, but it's still pretty enjoyable. There's also the Stalker games. If he liked Doom 3 he probably enjoys a horror aspect, so those two series should fit the bill. There's also the first Farcry, it still looks pretty good, and it's an outstanding game. Red Faction is another outstanding series, third person and a lot of fun to play. Dead Space is a good bet also, another third person game but with a sci-fi horror theme.

^ ah yes Dead Space. I think I installed 2 for him at some point.. perhaps three would be possible on that system. I will try. Fear and Farcry are also a good call as well, thanks Darkest.

    Appreciate the ideas all!

I think Dead Space 3 is U3 isn't it? If so he shouldn't have a problem running it, if I think of anything else I'll be sure to post.

Edit: Prey and Quake 4! Can't believe I forgot about those games.

Edit 2: The Serious Sam HD remakes as well as 3 should run fine on that rig.

    Killing Floor
    Unreal Tournament 2004
    Unreal 3
Wolfenstein (1st one). Second and third one are killer on full settings.
Brutal Doom for classic doom 1 and 2
    Doom 3 with no mods
    Quake 1-4
    Red Faction 1 and 2
Half Life 1 and 2 (no Cinema mod for you)
Counter Strike 1.6 up to CS-Go on medium settings
GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas
    Battlefield 2
Call of Duty 4 should be OK, but anything after blackops you will need more power at full settings
    Far Cry - 1st one
Not sure if your system will hand Crysis 1 or even Far Cry 2.
    Fear 1 and 2
    Gears of War
    Halo 1 and 2
    Postal 2
    Prey
    Operation Flashpoint
    Splinter Cell 1-3
Star Trek Voyager Elite Force 1 and 2
Ghost Recon up to advance warfighter
Alien Versus Predator classic and 2 with Primal Hunt
Soldiers of Fortune 1 and 2
    No One Lives Forever
    Condemned
Kingpin - old classic quake based FPS.

Far Cry 2 should run very good too and it's best in the series imo, all Dead Space games will run great as DS3 have dual core recommended.

I highly advise You to try newer Raven games. Singularity is one of the best fps games last generation also X-men Origins: Wolverine is pretty awesome and one of best super hero games imo. Wasn't biggest fan of their Wolfenstein (the one from 2008) never get very far but it got pretty good reviews too.
Medal of Honor (2010) will run great and it's pretty good could be a little longer but still it's absolutely worth trying.

Be careful about Hitman Absolution I played it on Pentium G2120 and it run pretty bad at some places/missions, SC Conviction runs like **** on dual cores so definetely avoid that, Blacklist runs much better from my experience.

Mafia II will run with no problems and while it could be much more it's still a great game.
You should avoid AC III and GTA IV.

    Few more:
    - Dishonored will run great and it's fantastic.
    - Call of Juarez series or you just can skip first and play second game and Gunslinger. They will run very good.
    - any Source game (L4D 2, H-L 2 with expensions, Portal series, Team Fortress 2) will run great.
    - Bioshock 1 and 2 will be no problem, not sure about Infinite.
    - the whole Elders Scrolls series will run great (including Skyrim)
    - Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are phenomenal and will run very good.
    - Dead Island especially for co-op.

Batman Arkham Asylum :D Its not really cpu demanding, and not extremely gpu demanding either, but still quite good looking, and very entertaining! (especially if you have a controller)
