I need some advice on upgrading my 670 GTX SLI setup, and I will be picking up either the 980sli setup or the 970sli. Which setup will be good for 1440p gaming.
I'll get back to you on that when my crystal ball is back from the shop... Seriously tho, wait for the reviews. Either will be good, 980 will obviously be better but by how much and at what cost... hold on, we're close now.
If leaked bench of 970 is true then it is just above GTX770 which in SLI are of enough for 1440p. Please update how many fps you like to play at and what kind of details you are willing to sacrifice. (like DoF, motion blur, SSAA, ...) And even then 770's may come better in performance/price even as they eat more Watts.
Rumors say the 970 will perform about as well as a 780, and the 980 will be about as good as a 780ti.
Now that we have the details I am struggling. I want to get either one 980 or 2 970. I can afford whatever, but I'm concerned that it may actually be best to wait for the 8GB models to be better futureproofed. And yet the itch to order these as soon as they're available is driving me crazy. Really though, my main concern is Witcher 3.. I figure dual 970 should potentially crush that game, but if it uses 4.5gb+ vram, would it be better to hold off and get the 8gb? Ugh..
I saw the review, now Im going to get 2 970 GTX for SLI setup. Damm can"t wait to upgrade......
Good choice, the 980 sli would cost you some £350 more and there's nothing 970 SLI can't handle, bar the odd exception.
980 is basically that little bit more and Epeen atm. Will be interesting to see how these cards Volt-mod and at what difference there is if there is any regarding quality of inductors, capacitors, phases etc.
I got myself 2 Gigabyte GTX 970s for SLI, and I am very impressed by the way SLI scaling of the 970s. Note that the 970 SLI setup is 80 to 100% faster than my old 670 SLI....
