So I received a dodgy Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti and had to return it. After reading the GTX 980 might come out this month, I asked the retailer if I could postpone a replacement/refund and pick up a GTX 980 this month instead. They got back to me and said: "Thank you for your message. We can confirm, that we can keep the refund and use it for an order of the new graphic adapters, which are coming soon." i.imgur.com /nOmNWYv.jpg So I guess I just have to see benchmarks before deciding whether to get a new 780 Ti or a 980.

It better be a real upgrade. Worse cards with higher numbers is just confusing and even criminal to less knowledgable users of hardware. Might pickup a 980 if it's something new and toight. Otherwise no. Getting less and less performance per generation while paying too much.
