I'm looking for recommendations of horror/paranormal films, but a specific type:

Dark/Night time, Raining, Stormy, Thundering, set in a big old Mansion or Castle, you know the sort of thing, real Hitchcock type of thing but not necessarily that old

Any that include the above are my type of atmosphere for a horror film to be set in, there's one I remember called "The Haunting"
    http://www. i m d b .com/title/tt0171363/

That type of setting is what Im looking for if anyone knows any good ones

    Cheers :)

The House on Haunted hill was always a good one from memory, meets most of your criteria

otherwise your looking at 50's horror or the old Universal monster flicks from the 30's and 40's

Thanks, yea that one rings a bell, I`ll hunt it down

I don't mind the older B&W stuff, they do have quite good atmospheres for that sort of thing, but would prefer something a bit more recent if there are any

Night of the Living Dead, the original.
I first saw it back when I was around 9 years old.

If you are looking for movies of that nature, I would look more at some of the older films based on the super natural, occults, Sorcery, etc. My personal favorite's is the remake of The Thing, starring Kurt Russell, and The Shining. Many films to choose from the below link.

Evil Dead trilogy, if you don't mind comedy in your horror. One of my favorite movies, ever.

Also, stay away from the new Evil Dead...

Wait a minute I got my movies mixed up, its Evil dead part 1 not night of the living dead.I think the scaryiest movie of all time was the Excorsist part 1 With Linda blair! That bitch haunted my dreams for years after watching it, altough in part 2 when Linda got older she was godamm Hott!!! Gave me some ideas lol.

I remember the old 80s Poltergeist ones, the new Paranormal Activity ones were good to start with but seen them too many times now and they made too many of them imo

This is probably the most sickening, vile, dark, ungodly movie I have ever seen in my life.

This makes Human Centipede look like the teletubbies!!

Finding this film truly UNCUT is pretty hard, you might have to resort to something like torrents to get the true version.

Then there is also these two excellent movies!!

French horror made a big bang a few years back.

I prefer Martyrs to Inside but both are EXCELLENT horror movies! Very creepy, graphic, and sometimes pretty hard to stomach.

Have you seen Eden Lake? It's more psychological than scary, because it's very possible something like that could happen for real

I would highly recommend John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness. An original horror gem from the '80s.
