LG will release the 24GM77 gaming monitor which comes with a strobe backlight - Motion 240 (120Hz + strobing). You could call this a a “lightboost” clone.  The 24GM77 is designed ...

Wouldn't it just create flicker, something which they are typically trying to get away from? It's flicker that's not really visible, but still causes eye strain over long viewing periods.

The difference with this type of flicker and the PWM flicker (for backlight brightness) is that this is synced to the refresh rate of the monitor. At least, that's how it appears.

Yes, it's a 120Hz flicker, but it's not that bad. CRTs were fine with 100Hz flicker.

Also, 1ms response is total bs, as so-called 240Hz mode basically means that the around 1st half of each 120Hz cycle is blank, effectively adding minimal lag. You will hardly notice it, but it just proves the point.

Can we stop with these comments? There is only one high refreshrate VA monitor and no official high refresh rates ips monitors..

Why? Who need another 144Hz TN screen? The point is that many don't want this **** but fast VA or IPS screens instead.

How about you get off your keyboard and invent one then?

I would love a 9Ghz 8 core. Guess what? They don't exist! Deal with it.

I'm just very picky about colour, image quality and viewing angles...

Same here, it's why i went with the EIZO CX240. Hefty price for a Non-Gaming Monitor, but it surely delivers what i want.

    - No IPS Glow
    - 100% Uniform Image
    - No Edge Bleeding
    - Colors (10-bit)
    - Viewing Angels
    - 16:10

    And ofcourse

    - The Warranty (Pixel Class 1)

My CX240 has no Crystalized/Grainy AG Coating. It's not Glossy, but not extremely mate either. Apart from that it has Zero IPS Glow due to some unknown coating EIZO uses.

Vibrant Colors mean they get Neon like, you don't have that with a Color Correct screen and it's a lot easier on the eyes.

And this input lag is a load of manure, unless you Game for a living and have to make money with it. Otherwise for 99% of the world it has zero negative effects.

It's almost as if people have different tastes in things and not everything is objectively better. Who would have thought.

I don't notice any input lag and there is no grainy coating. :)

I have no problems playing CS Source or any other FPS games...

I'm so glad to be of assistance. :D

Playing on a 60 Hz monitor makes me motion sick.

If I really needed a monitor with better color representation I would just get a 2nd one and do other stuff on that one.

    what a fail argument.

    OT
I would be more then happy with TN if it had at least 175° angle, 160° vertical is just too low.

Still a TN Panel doesn't have the Colors and Uniformity of a IPS Panel, and never ever will have.

And since that's what he (me aswell) cares about, there is no going TN.

    End of story.

I think much the same with my 27 inch 4 ms VA monitor, but it all comes down to value for money both feature and actual quality wise.

I find that if you sit in front of the monitor, it works best. I can then enjoy 144fps gaming in all it's glory.
