    Hey guys!

My EVGA GTX690 has a fault and the support guys have offered me a GTX780Ti (superclocked, 3gb) as a replacement for it.

What is the opinion here? I'm a graphics artist so I 3/4 of the time I'm using 3D software. and then playing games.

I could push for the 690 or ask for an upgrade to the Titan (which would cost me assuming they allow it)

Thanks for the advice in advance!

Out of curiosity, how much vram does the 690 have? I'm not familiar with 3d software's use, but does more vram actually help with such programs?

Well then I guess the question is, stick with the 780Ti or go with the Titan upgrade for vram.

Its increadible how terrible advice you give with every post.

    1. youd get alot better performance at the same price as a titan black buying 2x 6gb 780's.

    2. there is absolutely no way youll get 75 fps with a single titan black in witcher 3. With 780 ti sli, i get 60ish fps in witcher 2 maxed out, and witcher 3 will deffo be more demanding. (and yes, i assume that he is running at least 1440p, and not 1080p like a peasant).

*peasant comment was appreciated :p :)
games less than 3gb a 780ti would rock, 780ti sli would be wicked, of course.(in said games)

Thanks for the feedback, hopefully I can get a few more opinions in!

Certainly looks like I'll get the Ti if I can't get an upgrade for a good price.

    Cheers!

TI all the way. went from a 690 to a ti and the performance is smooth. No sli stutters and the extra ram helps a lot.

Hmmm... Interesting! I play Guild Wars 2 and I consistently get stuttering when turning around 180 degrees (redraws etc)

    Thanks!

780TI all the way. just so u know, not all performance issue related to driver or software. in fact most of them aren't, bad optimization, poor utilize of game engine(Unreal Engine 3 is best example)...

u CANT go wrong with TI

I get no stuttering with my 690, never have, my 690 also smashes the Ti but then again mine is modded beyond normal use:thumbup:

Upgraded from 680 SLI to a single 780 Ti and do not regret it in the slightest :)

I wouldn't say it's stuttering, its just like -- not smooth? I don't know how to really explain it and in fact I didn't really even notice it or have it bother me till I had to RMA for the 3rd time. During that process I didn't feel like having $1000 charge on my CC so I picked up a 750Ti. I honestly liked the 750Ti better then my 690. It ran all the games I generally play (CS:GO, SC2, Dota2) on max graphics with excellent framerates and the entire experience was just smooth as could be. All the games just felt better. Alt tabbing was faster. I had no weird monitor flickering when I alt tabbed or when I turned on my TV (connected). The latency felt better in CS:GO as well (SLI does add a frame of latency) but it felt like more. Obviously the 690 trumps the 750 in other titles so I ended up switching back but I wont be running SLI next generation, unless they announce specifically that they've made improvements to that type of stuff.

Also for the record, the 690 is 10x the experience that my 4870X2 was or even my 8800GTX SLI setup. They are clearly improving with every release but I still don't think it's as good as a single card.

Thanks for all the dialogue guys. I've send support an email to ask about an upgrade when the 800 series comes out and how much that might cost me. If that fails, I'll grab the 780Ti

    thanks! :D

Fair enough, i may go single card next time around, (GM200) saying that i will be going SLI with 2 physical cards so whether it will be better than the 690 being one physical remains to be seen for myself.

With the 690 having only 2GB of VRAM I would say that pretty much knocks it out of the contest at this point without much debate. 2GB of VRAM seemed low when the 600 series launched an now a couple years later with next gen consoles out having far more available memory than the old ones games will soon be using a lot more VRAM than they used to.
