Hello guys ive been wondering about these 2 powerhouse GPus, which would be better to get? I know Amd has the price advantage plus 1gb xtra ramm, I like having phys-x and most of the sims I play run alot better on Nvidia cards espically flight sims! So I guess what iam teying to ask is the $200 xtra for the 780ti worth it in your opinion?

    Thank you.

How much does this Monitor cost btw? Cause if its something like $1000 dollars I just cant do it, half maybe but 1k I just cant pull that off on what I make.Hell its going to take me a good 2 or 3 months to save for the video card. Iam just a poor guy what can i say? I still have a 23 inch asus 1920x1080 monitor and it looks good to me, but then again I havent experienced anything better so I cant say whats out there.

Asus said the monitor would ne around $799 in US, if i were you tho i would wait till the 880 series come out (september some time) and see how they preform what they cost. And then hopefully the 780ti will be cost less, and you have more cash over for the PG278Q.

It really is an amazing monitor, its been out here in EU for about a month now, and from what I understand its about to lanch in the US any day now.

get 6gb 780 or wait a lil longer for 880 which has 4gb stock and has lovely Maxwell tech.
*yes i'm aware I used the word 'lovely'. :p
    3gb cards are non-viable imo.
*i'm gonna gather more enemies than friends for sayin that.
but with the Q4 AAA games in mind then no, it's non-viable, not with gta5 ffs.
    language.

I tend to agree with you on the 3GB vram. Also waiting for the 880s to show what they're made of.

running around in the UE4 game daylight is a good experience, (uses around 3.2gb @1080) the engine has a certain solidness to it, it's like experiencing a 64 -bit OS for the first time, and the kinda more solid feel it has to it.
blazing around in watch dogs is fun too. especially the chases. nice view distances.

Yes, you need 8gb to play at 1440p.

What has made 3gb so unreliable? Watch Dogs. You know, the one with ****ty texture optimization. You go guys! ;)

Whsts the expected launch price on the Gtx 880? Iam just going to guess $700-$800 cant be any lower then that based what ive seen from Nvidias launch prices. Now if the 780ti drops to $500 I would for sure grab one but I dont see that happening.Thats why iam thinking either R290 or R290x for under $500. Heck ive seen used 290xs go for around $300 that would be perfect for me.

    Thanks guys,appricate your input.

up to 550$ at max, no more than that. the GTX 880 should end faster than 780 and most likely 780TI, though that remains to be seen.

GK110 is far more expensive to make than GM204, therfore GTX800 will be up to 550$, unless GTX 880 is full gm200 like i read in some weirdo article.

Yeah i think around 550$ is a good estimate.

I bought the 780 for 650 euro when it came out, that's about 550$?

Well $550 for a GTx 880 seems reasonable. But then I wonder how much lower the 780 and 780ti will go? Thats going to be the Maxwell correct? I read they are supposed to be very power efficent according to the reviews. Either way tough Nvidia always seems to charge an arm and a leg but I guess you can do that when your on top of your game? Amd Radeons seem to offer a much better performance for dollar value these days so ill go with whats cheeper.

that game is **** and not a real U4E indicator, also it ran just fine with 1.5gb vram maxed on a 580gtx. The real vram indicator @ U4E is Elemental Demo.
    So yeah ...

ps have another look here why it can use certain amount.

but i see its like talking to a wall, gl understanding it.
