So i'm building a System for a Family friend on a tight Budget and i currently have 4 options for my ITX system. He only wants it for Media watching and general web tasks and some occasional Autocad use. Specs CM Elite 130 Thermaltake SP-550 USB Wireless Card DVD Drive 8GB Patriot Low Profile 1600 1.5v ram 1TB WD Blue Asrock ITX Board A75 or B85 4 Options are I5 4460 A10 7850k iGPU I3 4150 GT630 A10 6790k GT 620 Those are the options i have within the price range currently so which would you guys go for and why?.Currently i'm not sure and think the I3 gt 630 route would be better performance wise.
I myself will be getting the 7850k, I plan to use the i-gpu for a few months time frame until I have the cash to add a Radeon R9 290x. I dont know much about the 6790k sorry. I would think your friend can get something alot cheeper if its only for media browsing, seems to be a tad overkill for what he or she is trying to do in my opinion. My plan is to make a very small Rig that has very high gaming performance and hopefully take advantage of Amd,s Mantle.
I'd go with the i3 and GT630....if your friend can manage a few more dollars, the GT640 would be better though.
I was also looking at a secondhand Nvidia or AMD Card but he did express a preference to Nvidia. Its pointless unless overclocking and i won't be since its a ITX system and a decent cooler would be out of budget.
For what you're building for, I'd go with NVidia. I wouldn't bother with AMD unless you were building strictly for media center use and then I'd go with an APU. Sometimes you can find NVidia cards cheap second hand but it seems to be getting rare.
GT 730 is 80$ and double the price of the GT 630 and in Australia it a complete waste of money because at 80$ i could get a 560ti or gtx 650-ti for that price secondhand. Looks like the I3 and GT 630 will do the job but if i can get a deal on a secondhand card i will.
I dunno where you buy your parts from but @ the MSY near me the cheapest in stock GT730 is $4 more ($65) than the cheapest in stock GT630 ($61) Might be worth looking into.
If using AutoCAD with any remote need for 3D renders, please pick an i5 and add a graphics card later if needed (don't think it will be). HD 4600 is fine for Medium-Low settings in MadVR (which is still better than default DXVA), and any IGP or low end card is enough with just general web tasks. CPU wise though, the i3 and even more so, i5 will be miles ahead of the AMD, especially if doing rendering. I use Inventor, which is pretty similar to AutoCAD, and the rendering performance on an A8 @4.1ghz is about the same versus my laptop's i7 1.8 dual core (Haswell). If your friend uses Keyshot or other CPU-based rendering, then the difference is massive.
Ah yeah kinda missed that but i won't be buying from MSY anymore because there **** and refuse Warranty's why anyone shops there is beyond retarded. Got a 5770 secondhand from a friend for 30$ so GPU is sorted. So these are the final specs I3 4150 HIS HD 5770 ASRock B85M-ITX CM Elite 130 WD 1tb blue TT-550-SP Thanks for the help guys
Glad to hear you got the GPU sorted. I've heard stories like that but never had an issue myself. Most ppls I know around western Sydney at least, shop @ MSY due to the pricing and they stock stuff other places don't, although the competition has gotten MUCH better in the last 18 - 24 months. Personally unless I need / want something straight away it's Amazon / Newegg for me.
