Start to build up new amazon basket, and wait for prices to be a little bit down.
Gonna put to sleep old x58 + 990x

Man that cost of DDR4 really stings if you're looking to build Haswell-E.

I was an early adopter of DDR3 with Wolfdale. My advice, wait for 6 months. I had incompatibility issues with DDR3, it was very expensive and I needed to replace it in just a few months because it just didn't play with my mobo.

Thank god for DDR3 compatibility! Those CAS latency numbers are horrible! I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth it to spend so much for what? Certainly not for better speeds! So the only good thing is lower voltages? Only good for mobiles and laptops as far as I see!

For now, yes, there's nothing much going for DDR4. This was the same when DDR3 was introduced. Wait 6months - year and DDR4 will be cheaper and faster than DDR3.

Ditto, nothing to be excited about yet. Benchies will show DDR4 to be slower than DDR3 at the same clock speed, just as it has been for every iteration before. Seems to me, though that AMD will be late to the DDR4 game in its support.
