Thanks for this! I almost bought it off GOG last month. Never played it, but I hear people speak very highly of it.

I got it from the giveaway. Haven't checked, but if true, it's one of the first games I used to play on my friends 33Mhz computer back then. Brings up some old, old memories hehe

I downloaded this a couple of days ago from Origin as I remembered playing/enjoying it and being impressed at the production values and quality actors used. However, I played it on the PS1 and only remembered that after I played the PC version which looks understandably dated. The cutscenes especially look really poor compared with how I remembered the PS1 version looking, though I'll admit that I may be recalling it through "rose-tinted spectacles".

Wasn't this game a movie tie in.

I seem to remember a film with some pretty big stars involved.

+1 me too , I will re-play this game again , it was so much fun in the past. I have always kept my entire library of legacy , very old games in CDs in their respective boxes and secure. I have installed and played again UT1 recently

No, the movie came afterwards and was loosely based on the games.

It was also terrible and Chris Roberts should have stuck to the games.

The ships would just snap to a new vector in Wing Commander so I never gave it much attention as the Star Wars sims had gradual movement, were AWESOME without furry cat people and already took enough of my time. I did see the WC movie at some point lol...there's a bunch of mods for Descent Freespace 1/2 including a DX10 remake, a full Wing Commander game and a Battlestar Galactica game.
