Hello guys, It seems my enclosure for my 3tb Seagate Goflex died and I freaked out as I have a lot of stuff in there so I took the hard drive out and connected the Sata cable and the power and it came up as one of my local drives under "My Computer" But I won't show space or anything, its just simply called "Drive D" and it wont let me access it unless I format and that is obviously not an option. My question is, it could be my mother board doesn't support 3TB drives which is no big deal, or this external drive is simply made to be used as an external.. or do I get a third party enclosure? The drive inside the enclosure is a Seagate Barracuda 3000GB SN: W1F0G46P MODEL: ST3000DM0001 Will this work? Dynex™ - 2.5" Serial ATA Hard Drive Enclosure - Black Or what do you guys recommend me getting? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-2...lack/5190553.p?id=1218623897772&skuId=5190553 Thank you!
FYI: GoFlex uses FAT32 by default and supports both FAT32 and NTFS. As for your accessing of the drive issue I would try running -> chkdsk d: /r as the volume might be corrupted. No that enclosure will not work as your drive is a 3.5" Not sure if you want this portable or want to just have access to your drive but here is an enclosure I recommend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153133 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153146
Thank you both for your help, sorry I took a while to get back with some info. I ended up getting Rosewill RX-358 V2 BLK (Black) 3.5" SATA to USB & eSATA Ext. Enclosure w/Int.80mm fan the price was great and tons of customer reviews etc. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817173042 It arrived today and I hooked it all up and the enclosure is working, but I still can't access my drive... "You need to format the disk in drive F: before you can use it. Do you want to format it? ?? when trying to access.. I click "NO" and another pop up comes up. "F:\ is not accessible. The volume does not contatin a recognized file system. Please make sure that all required system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted. Under disk Management this is what "drive F" shows: Now I am out of ideas, the drive is "RAW" why can't I access the drive? All that ever happened was the Seagate enclosure dying on me, the drive should be intact and ready to go with another enclosure. If someone could shed some light here, would be great. Thank you all. I know google is my friend so I will do some research as well, but if someone ever went through this, would be great to hear from!
Is layout on the picture correct: one partition of 350GB and two unallocated ones? If no then all layout info is corrupted. If yes then file system info on the first partition is corrupted and you can try to resurrect it with any partition management software.
