At some point I might buy 780 Ti SLI or even wait for the 8 series. I like to overclock a little on CPU and GPU.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP-...qid=1397413013&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+hx1000

Thinking of buying that one unless someone suggests otherwise.

Would I need a 1200watt? I saw the Corsair AX1200 but sadly I can't find it in the UK so far. Still looking. Surely 1000 would be enough any way?

    Cheers guys.

Never heard of them! What a name too! :)

Are they made by Corsair under a different name or something?#

Do you think I would need a 1000w or 1200w?

Thanks for your advice AGAIN! Obviously this conversation links up with the other one about my gf's PC. I will give her my old PSU in my sig.

    Are these flower ones quiet?

They make their own units as far as I understand. You should be fine with a 1000w unit for 780ti SLI, although more can't hurt. If I was buying a higher end PSU right now it'd be one of the units I linked to you, though. It shouldn't be noisy, the fan doesn't even spin up unless you exceed a certain temperature.

No problem on the advice, Sunday afternoon/evening and I'm having a lazy day in front of the computer. :p

Edit: According to the Kitguru review the unit is pretty quiet under full load.

Corsair doesn't make PSUs, they rebrand 'em. SuperFlower is OEM for many companies though and their quality PSU's are really high quality (though they do do make some really budget ones too that aren't spectacular).

This is my first PSU that has zero coil whine (and it's really, really quiet too). Those Leadex's are really good choices. 1000W one should be enough.

You definitely do not need 1200 watt psu. You can easily get by on 1kw with plenty of oc head room.

I had a Superflower previously, worked flawlessly for a few years across a couple of builds, running 24/7. They're not easily bought here either anymore, they used to be more common.

    Summary
With a total score even higher than the 1kW model, the EVGA G2 1300 watt unit takes everything that is good about little brother and somehow manages to completely obliterate the competition by bringing it to market at an unbeatable price. All things considered, I don't know of any one single power supply at or near this power level that can do the job any better. This... is the power supply to beat at the 1300 watt level right now. It is that damn good. This is the power supply that makes you say, "screw Platinum efficiency, I'm getting an EVGA G2 1300 instead." Heck, I want one, and I already have one.

    The Good:
    • beyond excellent voltage regulation
    • beyond excellent ripple suppression
    • better than 87% efficiency all the way down to the 10% load level
    • fully modular
    • extremely affordable
    • 10 year warranty
    The Bad:
    • nothing at all
    The Mediocre:
    • could use a better manual
    • Capxon on the modular board

I'm presuming that all of the recalls are now back and the ones i would get from scan would not be affected

Just an interesting comment in the Kitguru review I figure I should post, since you're concerned about noise:

    Ok. Thanks for that.

Still reading up but I think I'm gonna go with the EVGA 1300 PSU.

You'll be getting a Superflower unit either way if you do, they're EVGA's OEM for that unit I believe. :p

Oh right! So it will be just 1300 instead of 1000?

That and it's a gold rated unit instead of platinum. The current SF Leadex units are newer designs from what I understand.
