No big deal. By 2016 hardly anyone will have those cards anymore, and noone will play newer games on them that require driver optimization beyond that date. My father has a 260, but doesn't play any games at all. Hats off to Nvidia for even supporting everything for so long.

Lol, one does not simply stop supporting the mighty 8800GT/X.

So the 200 series gets driver support for 8 years in total. I guess that is reasonable. Though I got my 260 core 216 in 2010, 2016 seem pretty cheap when you think of it that way. I still use the card in another machine.

Me thinks this is a move to concentrate their efforts on 11_x cards in preparation for DX12.

I'm amazed that I still have regular drivers for the 8800GT, but I always assumed that there's been nothing for me in the patches for quite some time.
As long as the drivers are easy to find, I'm alright with that.

I'm still sticking to my 8800GT ! :) (more or less willingly)

I first got serious into pc gaming/ building when the nvidia drivers were at 90.xx.

    First card was a 8500gt - 8800 - 280 - 9800GX2 - back to my 8800 when the previous 2 died - then these 580's.

    Long live the 8800gtx

And yeah, my last job had all 8xxx and 9xxx cards in their pcs.

My 8800GT still lives on in one of my son's rigs and my gtx260 is keeping my daughter happy. They were both great cards and still run most games pretty well.

It's worth to mention that Nvidia seems to take Legacy support seriously, their Geforce 6 and 7 cards have support for Windows 8.

But it had been nice with at least one more year's regular driver support, considering those DX10 cards still can play games

in 3 year they will say no more driver for gtx 5xx 6xx, 7xx,
it s time to boycotte nvidia marketting
oblige people to buy new card when your game will not run on old driver? wtf
don t be stupid people, react !!!
stole our money is that what you want ,people have to wake up, stop ginving your money to nvidia or amd ,
rename graphic card is maybe ok but no more driver it s a shame
it s time to be smarter than marketing or this will never end,
we will be more and more stupide for them, at this time they are laughing out at us,
how stupid we are to shut our mouth and buying whaterver it s coming

This had to be done eventually. It will give Nvidia more time to focus on hardware that most people today use.

I wish phone makers would support phones as long as NVidia supports cards.

According to Steam's hardware survey, Nvidia's DX10 cards still have some popularity.

I wonder how much work Nvidia still puts on those cards though. They got support for Windows 8.1, but otherwise the release notes only mention the 400-700 series.

No one tells you to buy the game that requires a newer card, no do they tell you to buy a newer card to play newer games, that's all on you. If you don't want to buy it, then don't. It's your decision, not anyone else's.......
