Gamestop have been receiving banners to their stores indicating that the new Batman game is pushing ever closer to being announced...

Is this a Rocksteady Batman? If so, i'll pass on the pc version and just get it on PS4 when i get one in the future.

Batman Arkham games have run their course, IMO!

    I agree to an extent.

I'll give it one last go.

Personally, think the series hit it's high mark with Origins.
I'm interested to see where they take it with a direct sequel to City, a game truly without the Joker.

But, not sure they actually have the balls to do that and instead will try some bull to bring the Joker back.

This is without a doubt the next big thing they could do with the game.

I mean, asylum was confined, city opened things up, and origins basically gave more of the same from both (nothing really new even though I prefer Origin to the other two).

Vehicles need to added, it will give a completely different gameplay type, either traverse the city by car, jet, or fly like in Origins.

I seriously would love to see Rocksteady take on Spiderman franchise. Not going to happen though seen as WB own them (I think).

Good news (or better said rumor? :p). I liked the first two games quite a bit, still need to buy Origins though.

I really hope Rocksteady moves on to something else after this one.

If this is anything less than a 'GTA Batman' than they're just milking the cow imo.

    God I hope not.
The only "open world" games I really enjoy is Saints Row 3 and 4, and that's because they are so silly and over the top of freedom of the open city works to their advantage.

    Batman... not so much.
I get why people want an open world Batman game. Flying through the city, finding and stopping crimes... but then what? Taking random missions from people around the city?

City and Origins already ran into this issue... having Batman find random crimes in progress... interesting concept, but it doesn't go very far.
Origins tried the case file thing. Find a crime scene, investigate it, find the criminal. It's something that could be broadened but even so, it's still limited in what it can do.
At some point, an open world Batman game will feel empty.

I'd rather see them go back to the style of Asylum. While Origins is my favorite, it's my favorite because of story, combat and characters. But, Asylum still had the best setup as far as story progression and layout.
Enough freedom to allow choice and exploration, but without it dragging the game down because of there being too much nothing.

    Metroid... not GTA.

Origins was terrible, more like a DLC mission pack add on than a full new game. Also was made by some other dudes not Rock steady.

Really hope they do something new this time.

    Opinions are fun.
I loved Origins. Found it to be a much more enjoyable game then City.

    Hopefully it's next-gen only.

I'd be interested to see how different scale wise they can make a next gen open world game. Will we begin to see far less loading screens and bigger worlds?

Imagine a skyrim without loading, that'd be cool.

Exactly, you can throw more complex AIs too ! We can think of more "living" worlds as well, City and Origins featured a very static environment with very little stuff going on.

Unfortunately if the game releases in 2014 chances are it will be cross-gen. :(
I'm grateful for the tremendous visual jump those old consoles have allowed but it's time to let them go.

Not to be charged full price for a copy and paste rush job of the last game by a 3rd party dev to fill in the gap between rocksteady working on a proper sequel?

    Maybe I ask too much.
