    try viber , you will be able to use it on multiple devices then instead of just one like with whatsapp. (you do require internet though)

    Yea I was thinking about trying Viber, I did have it installed for VOIP to talk to my mate in India, but the call quality was horrible and I could hear myself more than him so got rid - could have been his connection though

    Might give it another shot for messaging, currently trying out Kik Messenger too but it has no live tile, so I don't know if I have any messages until I open the app

    It's all well and good saying use another app, but when everyone you know only uses whatsapp another app won't do you much good at all...

    See what FB do with it I guess, removed my number from my FB profile, as long as they don't store it still (probably do), then they shouldn't be able to link the two accounts.

    Unless something sketchy comes out of Telegram... it seems like the best alternative to WhatsApp, specially in what concerns privacy.
