Nice. Hopefully with the better cooling and power delivery, this card should overclock really well.

Testing a custom 290X? It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it, Hilbert.

im wanting to see if a 3rd party PCB / Cooler will be enough to tame this GPU. Would be awesome to see a lower average temp without compromising on performance!

I will end up with one of these... Cannot wait to get back to playn games on the 290x... Running bf4 with a 6950 and 1440p isnt as much fun... Medium settings im still get ~60fps.. so its ok i guess.

Anyways, Im really dissapoint that the card is 8+6.. Its a DCII should be 8+8.. Oh well.. That lightning with 886 im still tempted to try one out... I said id never, but i might go back on my previous statement.

It's hardly enough to max out the temp. Also if Hilbert runs it in open air case....

Nice one! Can't wait to see Hilbert's reviews on this. Too bad I just got my Sapphire 290. 95 degrees while gaming on this card just kills it. I can keep it below 70 while gaming in this tropical country, but with really bad noise. Was thinking of getting my 290 flashed to 290x, but I may have to liquid cool it first. With temp and noise aside, really lovin my 290. Thanks to Hilberts reviews on these cards, I've made the right choice.

Asus has the big money to always get the DCII out first to market that is key to sales maybe on this card. Most times its the same card design layout and just different chips and those are the big keys to being first.
proven design
