Funny how things work, currently a selection of press including yours truly is in Montreal / Canada to attend a technology briefing organized by NVIDIA. AMD figured, hmm let's go to a Hotel roughly 1...

Who remembers AMD claiming they weren't trying or intending to compete with the high end? Hah.. I can't wait to see more. Keep us in the loop Hilbert.

I've never seen AMD be so forward, the PR is off the scale for them. It might not be considered 'friendly' but damn.

As far as I remember and read up, AMD said they weren't trying
to compete with Intel at the high end processor market.

I must have missed the statements on the net saying AMD said
the same thing about the high end graphics card market too.

You could be right and my memory is wrong, but I'm sure I remember that statement. Or at the least I remember seeing it iterated multiple times on the forum.

I quite like this new aggressive AMD, tonight was a little unprofessional but whatever gets people talking.

Not sure everyone will think the same as me though, many prefer AMD because they tend to be the "nice" guys.

Card looks interesting, but the fact it's only these two games at this specific resolution is concerning.

Are they starting slow so they can impress people even more when the card is out, or is this the biggest gap it had over the Nvidia cards?

Believe AMD said they weren't focusing on the "enthusiast" market this gen...or competing with Titan... They never said they weren't going to compete in the high-end graphics market, which would be the GTX780.

Depending on which rumors you believe....trying to compete with the GTX780 may or may not be a mistake on AMD's part. If NVidia does in fact plan to release Maxwell in Q1'14 as some rumors are suggesting, AMD is very likely to lose this round by trying to compete against GTX780. If NVidia is holding off until the H2'14, R9 290X trading blows with GTX780 or Titan is a good thing for consumers.

So, it's bad for AMD to try to upstage NVidia.....but it was perfectly acceptable for NVidia and Valve to do the same to AMD during GPU14? It's amazing the hypocrisy on this forum these days....

So, uh, which of the 2 cards did they fix the screen refresh rate at 24 for? Not that it's going to make much of a difference, but with vsync enabled it could still sway the results.

I think the forum my have it's share of bias in the members as all do. However i've never once seen, thought suspect, or even heard the notion that Hilbert is biased one way or the other. Quite simply put, he isn't. Guru3d has always been my first place to check reviews, less others are just up first.

Anyway enough OT, any updates on whether or not this thing will be under 600$? We all had our estimates on how it would perform, which seems to be true so far. I don't want to have to pay 600-650$ though.

I am thankful to AMD for their price war, which is gonna benefit us all. Unfortunately it seems that even the best of their new chips isn't much better than Titan (if at all) that has been sold in tesla K20X cards for over a year and been on the paper even sooner...

If Maxwell will come in Q1 2014 it seems we are gonna be treated with the low powered chip again rather than getting Titan's son.Pity.

Well at least Xmass will get cheaper this year to those who plan an GPU upgrade.

To be honest, this advertising and unprofessionalism makes me want to steer towards Nv just because I despise this form of strategy in marketing.

Don't get me wrong, it does get results often. But I hate how its done.

Good to see AMD confident. Their new GPUs are shaping up to give Nvidia a few headaches.
