Default Battlefield 4 Beta GPU and CPU Benchmarks [GameGPU] - 10-03-2013, 21:41 | posts: 24,007 | Location: NZ

First benchmarks are in from GameGPU. They ran the beta on Windows 7 and the results aren't that surprising tbh.

This looks a bit messy but I basically just copypasta'd the whole thing. All credit goes to GameGPU and Google Translate.

Battlefield 4 Beta uses basically Frostbite Engine 3. Frostbite Engine - a game engine developed by EA Digital Illusions CE; applied both in their own development and projects of other branches of Electronic Arts. The first game created using this engine has Battlefield: Bad Company 2008. The engine was developed to replace the technically obsolete technology Refractor Engine, which was used in previous games in the firm.

There are four versions of the engine - 1.0, 1.5, 2, 3, and a special version of the engine for mobile systems - Frostbite Go. The engine is a type of software subroutine and is a bundle of several components such as the graphics engine, sound engine, etc. In Microsoft Windows, the game engine supports the display of graphics with DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1, and since version 1.5 - and DirectX 11. One of the stated features is optimized for multi-core processors.

The technology is capable of processing the landscape and destructible environments. Supported by dynamic lighting and shading function HBAO, procedural shading, various post-effects (eg, HDR and depth of field), particle system and texturing techniques, such as bump mapping. The maximum size of the location is a limit of 32 32 square kilometers of the display and the 4 4 km gaming space.

In addition, it is stated that the maximum draw distance allows you to see the level up to the horizon. Also provides its own sound engine, which does not require the use of specialized equipment such as EAX.

All the cards were tested for maximum graphics quality software MSI Afterburner (FRAPS). The purpose of the test is to determine the behavior of graphics from different manufacturers under the same conditions. For the performance measure was taken and the average minimum FPS.

Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 at the highest quality setting, allowed Battlefield 4 Beta. Tests were performed on-line and off MSAA. Multi-chip configuration from NVIDIA and AMD showed a good increase in performance, indicating a good training of drivers.

In a less heavy-duty graphics card performance put her life in a test stand. With the increase of the settings and resolution of video memory consumption becomes critical, so those cards, the amount of video memory which resulted in a critical game lockups were eliminated.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 no MSAA

At a resolution of 1920x1080 at maximum settings appropriate measure FPS video showed the level Radeon HD 7770 or GeForce GTX 560.
Optimal graphics solutions will be the Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 580 and above.

Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1600 no MSAA

At a resolution of 2560x1600 at maximum settings appropriate measure FPS video showed the level Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 580.
optimal graphics solutions will be Radeon HD 7970GE or GEFORCE GTX 770 and above.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 MSAA 4X

At a resolution of 1920x1080 at maximum settings c MSAA 4X appropriate measure FPS video showed the level Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 480.
Optimal graphics solutions will be Radeon HD 7950 or GEFORCE GTX 660 Ti and above.

Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1600 MSAA 4X

At a resolution of 2560x1600 at maximum settings c MSAA 4X appropriate measure FPS video showed the level Radeon HD 7950 or GEFORCE GTX 670.
Optimal graphics solutions will be the Radeon HD 7990 or GEFORCE GTX TITAN and above.

Test Micro-Stuttering

Introducing our testing delay the output of the monitor FPS Micro-Stuttering. Were taken as an indication of the results on the cards from AMD ARES II and NVIDIA GTX 780 at 1920x1080 with maximum quality settings.

Testing at maximum quality settings Micro-Stuttering GPU

As we can see, the indicators delay Micro-Stuttering are at an excellent level, indicating that a good optimization Battlefield 4.

The CPU test

CPU-testing we conducted on 17 models of basic configurations that are relevant for today.
The test was conducted in areas where the value of video games for the minimum and its occupancy was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1680x1050 at the highest quality setting.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1680x1050

Battlefield 4 Beta is very greedy to CPU resources. Even top models could hardly hold out to a comfortable performance.

It is worth noting that the most beneficial eight-core model came from AMD.

On some motherboards, the six-core FX models show inadequate results.
The solution is to try to put the priority in the task manager on the Battlefield 4 Beta to low, and if it does not help that in the BIOS settings to disable 2 cores and again for the game to set a low priority work. the performance will be like a 4-core FX, but without lag.

Download cores at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 Intel%

Download cores at maximum quality settings 1920x1080 AMD%

Battlefield 4 can completely use up to eight processing threads. The distribution of the load on AMD calibrated much better than for Intel.

Testing the memory consumed by the game program was conducted MSI Afterburner. Were taken as an indication of the results on the top-end graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of 1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with different settings smoothing.

Testing at maximum quality settings memory GPU

Use recommended amount of memory for this game is its amount at the rate of about 2 GB of main settings for the quality. For ultra resolution and maximum settings will need to be about three gigabytes of memory.

Test RAM

Testing a game of memory consumed by the monitoring was carried out directly through the Windows Task Manager Windows. The test was conducted on the basic configuration of Core i 7 3970H@4.9 GHz c preset memory of 16GB DDR3 2400 MGz.

Testing at different quality settings

As we can see, the basic settings for different qualities amount of memory consumed in Battlefield 4 Beta is at 1600-2200 megabytes. Thus, for a comfortable game, you must have at least 3 GB of RAM installed in your PC. The optimum will be the presence of 4 gigabytes.

Based on our test, we can conclude that - Battlefield 4 are more affected than on the CPU-card. And if on ultra settings without MSAA will be enough Radeon HD 7850 or GeForce GTX 580, the processor is more complicated.

More or less comfortable you can play only with the 8 threads per processor, with a smaller number of them in the game can be momentary, but very tangible friezes, that is more or less optimal for the game i7 / FX8XXX. We hope that with the release, the developers have pulled up a game optimization.

I'm using 2306MB of vram at any given time on ultra with 4xAA. So I fully expect to use at least 3GB when hi-res textures get in the game.

I hope to see a Windows 8 vs Windows 7 comparison after the game is officially released.

the microstuttering test is flawed though since they did set it to max settings instead of the lowest.

Wow, that's really nice CPU usage.

This game seems to torture systems nicely ... kinda looking forward to trying the beta now.

no for the microstuttering test everything has to be at the lowest.
doesnt matter which video card you own.

And copy pasting is bad? Welcome to the internet....it's perfectly acceptable as long as the source is credited. Living up to your old username I see....

Btw I didn't copy the whole article, only the benchmark info. Bedside's this is just a forum thread, not a front page article.....

well, in current maps i can play with 1gb VRAM at everything ultra+textures on high. (no MSAA), OCed between 7870/7870XT lvl (comparing w a friend who has a XT), i would say its higher than 40fps avg (nearly 50's). Allocated memory != actually used memory/strictly minimum memory needed

So with this card it shud be more than enough IMO (specially considering its beta)

Using latest drivers its sttutery, but using 04/09's it works pretty good.
