Default GTX680 Power Limit% - 08-21-2013, 13:48 | posts: 1,147 | Location: Timisoara, Romania

I have a gtx680 lightning, i use the normal bios, and i have oc'ed to +67 on core and +400 on mem with +63mV

I bumped up the power limit to 133%

And i must ask, why when i play games, i have spikes for 1 second from 133% power to, for example 145% or 177%

The msi afterburner graph shows a spike to that power level for just one second, then the power limit is back to below 133%.

Is normal to have more than 133% power spikes ?

If i let the card on stock, i don't have spikes...

I'd put my money on it being a glitch.

Glitch. Raise your power limit higher and see what it does

If i switch to LN2 bios which as 300% power limit, then in games the power never goes up from 120 max.

So it's a bug when i use the normal bios ?

For example if i switch to LN2 and i use the same OC setting and volts, the power is nice and stable, with no spikes.

LN2: http://s14.postimg.org/wo340ooj5/LN2.jpg
Normal bios: http://s24.postimg.org/hvjgg2zlx/normal_bios.jpg

Ahh, i didn't catch the LN2 power limit graph, but was almost all the time on 50-80% power, didn't had spikes, as on normal bios.
