This coincides with the closure of GFWL marketplace on the 22nd, which means you can not redeem new keys on GFWL from that day onwards and games like Gears of War 1 and Minerva's Den DLC will no longer be available for purchase.

If you lurk on NeoGAF you might be aware of the thread that is tracking Steam's registry about all this Props to Grief.exe

Known games which are supposedly losing GFWL - Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, Bioshock 2 and now this. I hope to see Dirt 2, Fallout 3 and Dark souls lose it as well!

I would love to see GFWL completely disappear from every game.

What does this mean exactly? Does it mean that games with GfWL will no longer work if it isn't patched out? And while Steam may patch GfWL out in favour of Steamworks, what will happen to the retail boxed versions? Will GfWL be patched out of those too?

Im really surprised to read that old games will still get patches to get rid of gfwl.
especially since microsoft said that everything still works (downloads) after closing their store.

I still haven't been able to play Dark Souls. The GFWL login won't accept my login and when I try to create a new account, an error occurs after which I'm redirected to the login again. If I try to create a new account at xbox.com, the page where I'm supposed to create a new account cannot be found. You'd think something like that would be fixed, but no, it has been going on since the first time I had to face GFWL with GTA 4. If not for Xliveless, I would have never been able to play GTA 4 either.

Anyway I'm angry about paying 39,99€ for Dark Souls and not being able to play it. GFWL is a cancer.

I wouldn't mind that if GWFL wasn't complete ****. Loses all my game saves constantly, having to redeem codes again and again

Bioshock 2 is getting more than updates to patch out GFWL and Securom - it has controller support now and multiplayer has been shifted to Steam's service!

What? GFWL is crap, but not being able to create an Xbox account is your problem.

GFWL is like the modern version of Starforce, just it only screws up the games and not the computers; but no one is sad to see it go.

I've never had a GFWL game, where i didn't find a way to disable/bypass it.
I hated it, but i don't have an xbox..

skyrim for example, and fallout 3/nv, removing GFWL was always my step 1.
But these were all offline games, i don't really play any online games so it was never a concern.

And that's not even the worst of it! I used to format often and after 10 times my keys would no longer let me sign in, and it was a nightmare trying to get Microsoft to issue new ones, literally took me 5 months to get a replacement key for GTAIV. Ever since I've sworn off GFWL, *uc* you Microshaft.

Games for Windows Live will be discontinued on July 1, 2014. Although it is available through Steam, Age of Empires Online requires features of the Games for Windows Live service. You can continue to enjoy all the features of Age of Empires Online as the service will remain 100% operational until July 1, 2014 when the server will shut down.

Maybe stuff like Dark Souls multiplayer will stop working as well?

Edit: The quoted text has disappeared from the page. Maybe it was revealed too soon accidentally.

I also have never had a problem with it, I think Bioshock 2, Kane and Lynch, and Fallout 3 were the only ones that I have from the list. But I generally like launchers and other things. I miss the days of offline games being offline.

According to Grief.exe, Bioshock 2 now has a new beta build called "approved". Considering that tomorrow is the last day before GFWL closes its shutters for good .... itshappening.gif?

I actually really liked it to start with, was the only way i could get achievements on my Live account as i rarely played the actual Xbox.

If it had of been more like XBox Live and offered things like multi-platform MP then it might of been more of a success, but it felt dead even when you were using it for new games and it did have a problem of corrupting save games which is just not on, especially when it didn't feature cloud saving.

I personally only ever had that happen with Gears of War and that was about 5 years ago, but i did speak to others who did.
