The 7970 is now around $300 and the 7950 is now at $179.99 after MIR (before taxes). AMD is about to lay a smackdown on Titan. It's coming.

I hope so, the drop on a single 7970 and the release of 13.8 drivers is making me want to go crossfire again

2nd post, and I've been eyeballing the 770, but I think I should just wait until October when AMD reveals their new GPU line. I've never before followed the GFX wars, but this year I'm really getting into it, I can't wait to see what AMD does in response to the 780/70/60! ...Should I be worried that they might under deliver?

This is crazy. Because if those prices dropped this way, it's to make space for new adequately expensive pieces.
And those will have proportionally higher performance to justify price.
I am torn between getting another gpu or wait for 2 new ones.

I've read about Apple A7 chips on 20nm having 1st tap out in May2013 and that risk production should have been ready by July2013.
With full production at start of 2014. Then last month I've read that TSMC seriously optimizes their 20nm printing tools.

So I hope we'll see next month some crazy 20nm pieces instead of 28nm with still very good performance boost.
Even if 28nm HD 9970 had just 40CU (2560 shaders); 384bit mem bus @6GHz; 48ROPs & 128TMUs with same architecture like HD 7970 then it would still trade blows with Titan.
And I guess HD 9970 will have few extra upgrades since it's been cooked for very long time.

there wont be a single chip that's faster then 7990 yet so dont worry about that.

9970 if one leaked rumor is true is just a little faster then full GK110., vs 7970 its like 40%.
Also it could be 20nm with higher OC gap.

I'm not a fan of PowerColor either....or MIRs for that matter.... There always ends up being someone that gets ripped off by MIR deals. But, for those willing to take a chance....and actually get lucky with the MIR...the prices are pretty damn hard to beat.

Powercolors ok, I had a 4870 from them which I managed to RMA. Was replaced with a better version. RMA process wasn't exactly smooth though.

and the gtx 780 is 650 dollars, another 50 bucks more you got the ati 7990 card, ati is making nvidia to force their cards to drop down in price, they will have no choice in order to keep up with the competition thats going hand to hand.

two ati 7970's = 600 dollars or a lil less, 100 dollars+ cheaper then the 7990 and 50 dollars cheaper then the 780, forget it, ati is haulin' now.

I am still waiting for the new silicon from ati and nvidia, personally I am waiting for the new maxwell gpu's.

7990 can be found for under $600 btw so it's not $50 more than gtx 780, they cost about the same, which is insane.

Someone spends 500+ more on a video card , well if i did i wouldn't bother upgrading for the next 7 years. No point, because if you spend 500 or even 1000 on a card it should be able to run any game at 60 frames no problems for yea the next 6-7 years, if nothing, something is wrong. I have a 550 ti which i had for 2 years now, and it runs any game just fine even new ones at the proper settings which i enjoy to use.

Anyways, happy shopping

There is a difference in runing a game and maxing it out. Look at GTX680, it's 2 years old 500$ GPU and can't push 60fps in quite a few games already.

What after 7 years? It would be long dead, lol
