Battlefield 4 is among the most anticipated games of 2013. A couple of days ago, some PC requirements were leaked via the game’s Ubisoft store page. DICE was quick to react and claimed that ...

nVidia GeForce 600 and 700 users fcked up. GeForce don't have full DirectX 11.1 support. This is only a start, in the future more and more games that are heavily optimized for AMD hardware starts to show.

I don't really care about dx11.1, it is just a few optimization and it might improve performance by 1% - 5% max, do you really care? I care more about operating system today...

Nvidia only support Dx11.1 in software don't they (and only certain things), while AMD is the full hardware ?, but even so, i doubt it would make a difference as said above, as the games using it to improve the CPU performance, not the GPU.

^ Im not 100% on that mind, so feel free to correct

I can see it being a case where the Nvidia cards perform better, like in BioShock Infinite & Crysis 3.

I guess it will mean that Nvidia users will encounter a CPU bottleneck sooner than AMD users.

I expect it'll mostly make a difference in the multi-GPU setups.

If folks are interested in this, you should look up his twitter. There, he has talked before about how DX11.1 will benefit BF4

I think offset/dynamic buffers will only benefit min spec CPU's, can't see how it would improve an i7's performance, for example.....

Don't really care anyway tbh....

It was frostbite devs that pushed for some of 11.1 feature set so it would be silly if they didn't implement them.

and yes the features been used work out nvidia cards as well as amd.

Nvidia support most features level of DX11.1 on software ( API ), not all, as some require hardwares features level.. but this dont mean Dice have decided to use the features who require a support on hardware.. ( where AMD support them all on hardware ). This said, we dont know yet how it can impact the perormance.

There is something wrong with that news.
Windows 7 suports DX11.1
It's DX11.2 that is an exclusive to Windows 8 and Xbox One.

AMDs cards could get an edge over Nvidias afterall, if this is anything to go by.

Quote:
EA-DICE' upcoming online shooter Battlefield 4 will take advantage of DirectX 11.1 API, on PCs running Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Running the game with DirectX 11.1 will have a positive performance impact compared to running it on DirectX 11.0, or on older operating systems like Windows 7 (which doesn't support DirectX 11.1). In the words of the technical director behind Frostbite, the underlying engine for Battlefield 4, "We use DX11.1, there are some optimizations in it (constant buffer offsets, dynamic buffers as SRVs) that we got in to the the API that improves CPU performance in our rendering when one runs with DX11.1." This could give Radeon HD 7000 series GPUs an edge over their GeForce competitors. GPUs based on NVIDIA's "Kepler" micro-architecture don't fully support DirectX 11.1. Incidentally, Battlefield 4 was just bagged and tagged by AMD for its future "Never Settle" bundle. Join the dots.

ROFL,

Oh noes, the world's most overhyped, throw away, cheater plagued game will run better on x hardware (maybe)

Nvidia and AMD both play this stupid game and the fact is that the game will run fine on either.

This is marketing/PR because AMD have a card launch in the not so distant future.

You can't blame them, Nvidia have done exactly the same thing where big releases are concerned.

BF4 is a Gaming Evolved title so i wouldn't be surprised if they used DX11.1 hardware features as well.

The only hardware features NVidia doesn't support aren't related to 3D gaming.

As much as I hate DX11.1 not being fully supported on Windows 7, I do like that some games will use the newer, more efficient APIs.

Seeing even high-end PC exclusives sticking to DX9 for so long made me bitter
