New Video card time, thinking Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC -
03-18-2013, 12:06
I'm thinking it’s time to update my system but I really I don't see the point it changing my CPU or my motherboard as its still quite fast
Intel i7 920, D0 @4.2
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3
Gainward GTX 295 V2
I got that back in Sep 03, 2009!
I think the main problem my system has is my old GTX 295 video card
Half the time I can't use the SLI function as it crash's Guild wars...Guild wars 2... known bug with older SLI so I’m having to run it as a single card so it’s not the best at high rez
After looking around I have been able to find a card that seems like it’s the right fit for me and that’s the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X OC
I have been able to find it for £240 and it’s based on a custom 7970 pcb and overclocks Just as well as the 7970 if not more
I’m just making sure I haven’t missed anything here as it’s been a long time from my last video card and I’m making sure it will be an upgrade and my CPU will be ok
I also had a bad experience with ATI in the past with there ATI 4870x2, worst card I ever had and trying to run it in crossfire.. Forget it.. put me off ATI for years so I take it the 7950’s are reliable?
Thanks Guys
Edit go to page two for update

I was supporting my inicial sentence, which you said it was crap. How is it crap when Nvidia has low latency and more smooth gameplay?
If you have no idea or you didn't click the link then you are the one that has to abandon this thread.

Your username suits you.

However, can not generally say that the weaknesses identified in the frame latency are always noticeable and thus negatively affect the gameplay. So we can confirm the resultant using the frame latency chart image in Far Cry 3 is not, for example - the Radeon HD 7970 Edition GHz is not noticeably worse than the GeForce GTX 680th
|
Furthermore this is not an ATI vs Nvidia thread, the OP specifically asked about the 7950.
So how about you step out before I report you for trolling.

nice one. And don't worry, you didn't start anything. dr.noob just likes to act like a little child and always bashes AMD. Anyway, make sure you keep us up to date when you get the card, we want to see some oc results and some bench scores. Also if you have any questions, ask. a lot of good guys here that will be glad to help.
