The Enterprise still has too many lens flares, I expected Kirk and Spock lite to pull out lightsabers and what planet were those shots in?! Earth? Coruscant? It's very close to other Star's art work. They're definitely going for a new audience but I'll still watch it anyway

Trying to do Kirk et al was a mistake. Move the franchise on, do something new. Kirk is Shatner. Spock is Nimoy! Star Trek needs a new direction.

Agreed, it was a good action film. It's just the characters have been done, and better!

I liked the last Star Trek movie....and I've never been a fan of the "franchise"... Now, the A-Team I loved as a kid.....but I think the movie remake completely ruined it beyond repair.

The last Star Trek movie was an attempt to reboot the "franchise" and take it in a different direction....sort of like, showing where it could have gone if events had happened differently.

its STAR TREK why ( at least from the trailer ) set it mostly on uninteresting earth, that coupled with the rip off Batman terrorist story for me seems like an opportunity lost, lets see........but its missing the whole point of STAR TREK!!!!!!

Wait until you see what they might dream up for a re-vamped Stargate-SG1 series, then!

Original star trek fans didn't like the last movie because it doesn't this star trek atmosphere, and chances are they wouldn't like this new one also.

Meanwhile the ones who never liked the original star trek liked the last movies because it is a good action movie, and they have no expectation about how a star trek movie should be.

So what even happened to Star Trek? Because so far the last two movies (this and the previous) have had at least half of their time dealing with Earth or problems to Earth... Don't we have enough franchises that can deal with that?

It's the same thing that ruined Stargate: Universe.

The older star trek also had a movie on Earth.
Remember the one where they had to get a pregnant whale ?

Love star trek, have seen every movie and series (all seasons) last year.
While they were different from each other they also had the star trek univers which is cool.
I even got to appreciate enterprise with Scott Bakula. a guy whom i usually hate.

Its the star trek universe whats so cool imho.

I saw this trailer, and it still is kinda weird that spock is making jokes tbh, but oh well.

Looking forward to this now

Reboot Starfleet is actually Team Earth Protect.

If you have folk who said they didn't like Star Trek but liked the last movie then can that last movie really be considered Star Trek?

So in the original Treks they used transporters because the budget for shuttle craft scenes just wasn't there, transporters where the cheap option. Now they seem to be finding more and more contrived ways to have them jump, leap, dive and do various stupid stunts through space instead of using the transporter!
