Default Bugbear's next car game. - 02-25-2013, 17:15 | posts: 2,639 | Location: SA

Yes please !

Quote:
There’s almost a resigned inevitability to the act of giving your upcoming game the working title “Next Car Game”. Bugbear previously created the FlatOut series, and worked on the unhinged Ridge Racer: Unbounded. Surprise! They’re working on another car game.

Not that they sound unhappy about the prospect of more motor madness. A short message on their newly opened website reads, “We’re making a new car game. This time we’re going back to our roots – just like all of our fans have been asking us to do!” A short trailer teases what the studio are planning, and while it may be cars, it definitely isn’t racing.

“We’re doing it because nobody else seems capable of delivering the kind of game our fans have been asking from us every week,” Bugbear write. “We feel that there hasn’t been a proper demolition derby game in years. It’s about time they got an answer.”

Next Car Game is confirmed for PC, as well as other yet to be announced platforms.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Let's hope it's FlatOut.

If it is, i hope they go back to the roots with this title,
i mean FO1 and FO2 gameplay, new cars, tracks and shiny graphics.

It definitely looks like it's close to FO1 in terms of style. I had blast with FO UC (which is FO2 with better graphics) even though I still think FO1 was better.

No - I want to go back to single card. I still got rather nice amount of €€€ out of them. I'm waiting for custom Radeon 290/290X's before I make final decision what to get. I don't have much time to play now since I'm busy with my thesis.

By the way, they have now over collected over 500K which is way more than the original kickstarter goal.

Yep agree with that for sure! Grabbed my copy over the weekend! At the very least, if they can polish it up and make some solid tracks and a bowl it'll be like a modern day Destruction Derby for me.

They could take it to the next level with unique modes and multiplayer, but we'll see.

Mulitplayer is already confirmed and I wouldn't be surprised if we see the stunt mode back from flatout UC

They've already included a big open map with several stunts and varying methods of destroying your car, so you could be right there, really is a good showcase for the destruction physics, can literally turn your car into a mangled mess that no longer drives

EDIT: Link to the sneak peak http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CS1lVEXUnTI

I am hesitant on purchasing this as much as actually want to! I am just not sold on the whole Early Access thing considering your paying for what is essentially an incomplete product. Feel free to convince me other wise as I own all the other FlatOut games (except 3 which was mean't to be bad anyways).

That's the whole early access argument right there.

It's up to you to trust whether the dev comes good on their promises. Because they can basically stay in early access forever and take the money and run.

That's the extreme I guess, especially since even Steam have said they will never give refunds if you've purchased an early access game and it's then cancelled.

For this game in particular, what you get now is the 2.0 Tech Demo and also a couple pretty complete tracks (AI still buggy) and a destruction derby mode.

Was well worth the $25 for me to try it now and get a taste, knowing i'll have the full game paid for when it finally releases.

If I'm honest with you I've never been one to do the whole Steam Early Access thing either, but then there's never really been anything else on there that's got me all that excited.

It just seems like such a long time since we've had a decent racing game like this, that I almost feel I have to support it just to keep the genre alive, Bugbear have made some truly great games in the past so I'm comfortable parting with some money to help them create the best game they can.

The risk of them not reaching their goals is a real one which could result in being out of pocket, but at least I would feel like I gave it a fair chance.
