Who designs the best looking smartphones? -

Quote:
ook, it is hard to judge design as it is sometimes so subjective, but there seem to be some general agreement on what’s good and what’s not. And the just unveiled HTC One has pretty much swept us away with its refined aluminum unibody, carefully chamfered edges and thin profile. Slick looks.
But you cannot deny it also looks very similar to the iPhone 5 in its aluminum aesthetic.
Then we have the gorgeous glass Sony Xperia Z that is not just beautiful but also practical, dust and water resistant.
On the other side of the fence are Samsung’s devices, a uniform bunch with a soft, glazed polycarbonate plastic that feels great to hold, but does not necessarily have the same solid feeling.
And finally, there is Nokia, with its colorful plastic Lumia smartphones that are fun with their vibrant reds, yellows and blues. But just as Samsung, Nokia is on the side of the fence preferring plastic to the intricacies of aluminum.

I like the design of my Samsung Galaxy S III and its bigger screen but admit that the iPhone 5 design does look nicer.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a really smart-looking SmartPhone, and I like mine a lot.
Probably more of a pocket media centre than a mobile phone, though.

The HTC One is a very nice looking phone. I'd not own it but it is very attractive (the UI not so much though). I like the iPhone 5 as well. I like how both are much more subtle in design than some of the flashy, plasticy, gimmicky phones that are around.

The new HTC looks amazing! I'll be in the market for a new phone in a few months and that one looks like a very strong contender.
Here's to hoping the SG4 won't look as crappy as the SG3 though.

i loved my S3 back then. but its plastic is amazingly simple and cheap to me.
even Nexus 4 body and material is better looking to me..also the feel when u hold it. iphone 5 itself is a nice touch the design but still a bit boring.
never hold HTC phones since the HD2. probably not bad.
im currently happy with Nexus 4 design and body as a businessman.

Yes, I am in no way critiquing the quality of Samsung phones, I know they're great. It's just that the design of them does nothing for me. But then I also feel the same about a lot of the stuff Samsung makes, including TV's and monitors. I just don't like the "soft" lines they often use, I think. All a matter of personal preference, of course.

I like the design of my HTC 8X, the glass has curved edges all the way around the edge of the phone and the grill, it's lighter than an iPhone 5 and the polycarbonate case is a touch and a half.

nokia ftw!
htc makes them too curvy and the easy-to-hold way... I prefer the sharp and rare edges of say the nokia x7 that would make a great lumia flagship but the back should be flat

I like Sony's design but design is one thing, ROM support and community support is another.
I personally don't care about design if it's not open for modding.

I can critique Apple for a lot of things, and I would never get an Apple product myself as they just aren't for me. However, their phones have always looked really nice to me purely from an aesthetic point of view. I think it's nice that they continue to use the simple and sleek design from generation to generation instead of trying to reinvent the wheel every time. Seriously, Samsung.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the optimus G.. i like yhe feeling style and design of the G more than any other phone.. plus its lightweight and just the right size. It gets my vote over iphone anyday.. but thats also because I find the iphone 4 and 5 to be disappointing aesthetically and the s3 is terribly ugly and feels weird to hold.. again just my opinion.
