Thanks stasio.
NVIDIA released this R304 driver to address the recent security vulnerability for GeForce 6/7 users. It's the same exact display driver as 307.74 Quadro/Tesla only with GeForce support instead.

Because R310 branch doesn't support GeForce 6/7.

For the 6600 GT listed in your specs? Yeah, much faster considering 310.90 won't even work with that card
Edit- OK I see you upgraded specs to 8800GT. With older card maybe R304 really does perform better. Newer drivers improvements are designed for the current generation of video cards. If R304 works better than R310 with current generation of cards, NVIDIA is doing something very wrong.

Thanks! I'll keep the Quadro's installed for convenience's sake since they're the exact same but yeah, these drivers are amazing. It got rid of the stutter (for me) in Mass Effect 3 with 8xQAA, 4x Transparency AA, and High Quality AO enabled in inspector as well that would persist even though my frame rate stayed at a constant 60. I tried out Sleeping Dogs and had similar results, though not quite to the extent of Mass Effect 3's improvement.

I have this curiosity. Since Assassin's Creed 3 requires a DirectX9 GPU, but it's a must to play it on Vista/7/8, I wonder how AC3 would play with these drivers on a 7800GTX or a 7900 GX2.
I'm curious about ATI X1000 series too.

black ops 2 never really gave me any issues so I can't tell.
The only thing I noticed that there was 0 hitch/stutter in bf3.
Hitman runs smooth and GW2 runs much smoother.
Download them... I know you want to.... do it... DO IT!

Will report back with my findings, installing now, currently on 306.97 as 310.70 and other 310.xx drivers are not working well for me on Win8? If I use them, after installing the driver, after rebooting my screen just flickers and I cant see anything? But I will test these, hopefully I dont need to do a full restore with comodo backup again?!

I played MP yesterday @ quadro 307.74 variant and i didnt see any lower fps compared to newer 310.xx with "BO2 boost".
It ran the same, maybe even a little smoother.

That's quite sad really, R304 outperforming R310.

So are these drivers using older code than the recent v310.90 as the version number suggests or are they actually newer? I'd hazard a guess at them being older otherwise NVIDIA would have released them as v310.91 or higher but it is still a little confusing, particularly as I saw ManuelG mention earlier on this week (or late last week) that there was a new driver imminent.
