nothing will change about movies or games. that article had like 1 small mention of games but a huge bold title about it lol. i used to not mind cnn, but i really hate them as much as fox now. screw this agenda driven media. i have been a gamer way longer than i have been a gun owner.

people need to stop having kids if they cant raise them right.... Everyone thinks like you MUST have a child in life. what you MUST do is be a responsible adult, and thats the real problem. so now the government needs to act like parents, by restricting everything because parents are to dumb to teach their kids. parents need to restrict what needs to be restricted, not give their child whatever without boundries.

No, the topic really is deferral of blame.

Where a perpetrator drew inspiration, is not salient.
What tool a perpetrator used, is not salient.

~Everyone here grew up playing violent video games - and we're not killers.
There are ~80 million gun owners just in the USA - and they are not killers.

We all have the same opportunities.
What distinguishes all of us from a murderer ... is our selves.

Besides, violent crime is down 50% in the last 20 years (that's a crap ton...). But instead of talking about how good things are going, we talk about how bad they are?
This whole ordeal is in people's minds.
You don't wear a helmet just in case a meteor should fall on you. You go about life accepting that it's a remote risk, and it's fine.

What an absolute joke. They are just looking for anything and everything to blame for this. The problem isn't even guns, it is PEOPLE. Guns and video games don't kill people, people kill people. Period.

You know who is really pushing that narrative? The NRA. Blaming video games.

CNN is merely reporting, in this case, what some have said. CNN isn't making that claim. There are enough other things to blame the media for. This isn't one of them.

My thoughts...

As I recall, over a thousand years ago, gladiatorial fights to the death, feeding people to lions etc etc were public entertainment. Surely that real life blood and gore for the benefit of a frenzied mob cheering for more, isn't being compared to fantasy violence on a screen.

I blame the gun industry. Shut the access to civilians for the love of Talos! Civilian with gun is bad idea and those who think opposite should feel bad. Humans are weak minded. Today you are sane tomorrow you are not and games have nothing to do with that. And don't you guy come with "He will always find way to get weapon" because that's bullcrap and you know it. Hunt down the weapon dealers as the Russians hunted the Germans in WW2 and these accidents might not disappear but will be reduced slightly. If there are that many fanatics that like to shoot with guns in the US I have advice to them. Enlist into the Army or in really last resort (but really not) the Police, well the police in USA actually is doing its job IMO unlike in my ****ty country but that's offtopic.

Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghan, Africa, just some of the places i have soldiered in the last 10 years, cant remember ever meeting a single bad guy who was inspired by video games. I doubt the various tribes in Rwanda and Sierra Leone had just played GTA before setting out and committing those atrocities.

I'm more worried about what the government will do with guns, than my neighbor.

Individuals don't make war.
Police are 8x as likely to commit murder (off or on duty) than non-police.

We're incredibly safe, much safer than ever in history.
The only problem is the sensationalism on TV.

In the 1950's we had competitive rifle teams in high schools. The kids brought their own guns most of the time..and we never had a student killing spree. Go back another decade or two and it was legal to own a machine gun - and mass murder was still extremely rare until Prohibition spawned all the gang activity. But nowadays someone suggests possibly letting a school staff member have the right to arm himself and the lefties go nuts over it. Never forget that simply having the right to be armed is usually enough to prevent violence..you don't even need the gun 99% of the time. Also never forget that every one of these killers selected "gun-free zones" for their rampages. That's telling enough, but on a more sinister note, even a casual study of history shows that every government that's disarmed its citizens has almost immediately become much more oppressive. We also know that every ban on a certain class of weapon is immediately followed by attempts to ban other types. The establishment leftists in America have stated over and over that a total ban on private gun ownership is one of their primary goals. When you look at the situation objectively, it becomes clear that the very real dangers of not having firearms for self-defense far outweigh the potential dangers of having them. Violent crime is way down year over year since 1990, too, and as someone mentioned we never hear about it. Nor does the media ever mention any of the over 100,000 cases per year in which people defend their lives and property with legal firearms. Its not the guns, its the society. Its hard to find a mass murder incident where the assailant wasn't on psychiatric medication of some kind. A kid acts a little hyperactive? Dope em' up. Oh, little Johnny is shy? Dope him up. We're the most over-medicated country on Earth, as well as the fattest, the least educated for the dollars spent and the most spied upon with the possible except of Britain. We're also incredibly irresponsible and we've raised our kids to believe everything bad is someone else's fault. Add in the unbelievably violent films, games and other media that children are bombarded with I'm amazed we aren't seeing more young adults acting out their dark fantasies. The liberals running the schools, the medical associations and the entertainment industry have done everything possible to bring that monster to the surface.

People stop arguing about the gun violence. Nobody says and it's foolish to think people would stop die by guns. The point is to reduce the deaths to minimum. Look at some statistics about your UK related to gun kills and compare it to other countries that have free gun use. You can be killed in hunting accident too if you think about it.

You know, that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking too. Then again things were more violent then so who knows. Trying to shift blame around is juvenile, not sure why they're even bothering.

Ban guns. It's not going to solve gun crime, as those who will be determined enough will still get a hold of them, but it will make it hard enough to weed out most crazies. With guns as readily available in the US as they are, it's a statistical inevitability that, to put it in very simple terms, "bad things will happen".

It's precisely because guns are not accessible to individuals why specific gun crimes - such as mass shootings - rarely happen in other countries. Crazies are everywhere, it's just that they're less likely to kill 18 people with a set of steak knives and a rolling pin than with a Glock, a Beretta and an AK-47.

Ban motor vehicles while they're at it too. There were 3 times as many deaths involving motor vehicles last year than there were firearms. Funny how no one is reporting on that little gem. The media has a way of turning you into sheep if you allow it.

But it not all is lost. It seems Wyoming is giving the government their middle finger.

I try really really hard to understand why people complain about background checks on gun owners is so bad? They are violating the second amendment, it is true i do not know anything about US history, but that second amendment that everyone love, the one that says that it is ok for ever US citizen to have weapons, wasn't that written at the same time during the constitution in the 1700s, when it was also ok to have slaves, when it was ok that women could not vote, and so on?
Were there any revisions to this precious second amendment that all gun freaks love so much or is it still the same as the one in the 1700s?
Please make me understand why it is ok for a developed country like USA to have its laws based on a constitution written in the 1700s and revised once or twice but in essence it is still the same, how can they say that democracy works for them when all it does is creating a world octopus that is controlling everything, from oil to weapons, and everyone says it's ok just because it is the way the money flows in the nature, like this is the natural way of things.
USA will never ban guns or limit the guns using background checks, i actually do not want them to ban guns like assault rifles, but at least for the assault rifles make background checks, for the 9mm i guess people can have them, i mean it is their second amendment right. It is a profitable business, and even if Biden will succeed, a Texan like Bush will come for the next president, and will probably win, and again there will be no gun controls. I think the only way to please everyone is to modify the second amendment to say: right to bear handguns!
