A smart TV is only as smart as the person controlling it. So if the person in control is a hacker, the owner could have a problem. Researchers at security consultancy ReVuln say some smart TVs are vulnerable to hacking.

It is another example of what experts say is the ever-expanding attack surface of devices that traditionally never faced the Internet, but are now "smart."

The researchers at the Malta-based company said they found a vulnerability in a number of smart TVs made by Samsung Electronics that gave them root access to the TV and any attached USB drives

THE CABLE BOX THAT KNOWS WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO HAVE SEX

Quote:
The cable boxes of the future could be able to detect when viewers are cuddling on the sofa and automatically serve adverts for contraceptives.

U.S. cable provider Verizon has applied to patent a set-top box technology that can observe what's going on in the room and show viewers adverts based on what it detects.

In U.S. Patent Application 20120304206 the company suggests it could detect when people are 'cuddling' then show 'a commercial for a romantic getaway vacation, a commercial for a contraceptive, a commercial for flowers etc.'

The technology would integrate a range of sensors into their products, including thermal imaging cameras, microphones and motion sensors, to detect the mood their audience and tailor media content to suit.

Privacy campaign group Big Brother Watch called the new technology a 'privacy nightmare waiting around the corner' and called for it to be reined in 'before consumers lose control for good'.

Since I either ignore ads, leave the room, or change the channel when they come on, I'm not sure that it's going to make any profit from me. :p

I can only imagine the device detecting hostility between to couples, and automatically show a advertisement for self defense classes or marriage counseling.

I meant to say most of my free time. Only that is left after i'm finished with my work.

On reading my original post, it seems as if i am implying that i spend most of my time on the internet, however that's not true.
