The first computer I ever saw was an ICL machine running Algol 60, with 512Kb ( yes Kb! ) memory in an air-conditioned room that felt like a fridge!
Had to punch out the progs on paper tape.
Just stopped short at having water pipes coiled round it for additional cooling.
