    Hi everyone,

This will be the new thread for Project CARS here at Guru3D from now on so keep the text pCARS related.

Project CARS as the name says is a Community Assisted Racing Simulator being developed by Slightly Mad Studios the developers behind the Need for Speed: Shift and Shift 2 but without EA backing them up this time.
The developers have a long history in the racing simulator world having worked on some of the most fabulous games of the past years, GTL, GTR Series, Need for Speed Shift Series, PGR and many more, so they decided that this was the time to make something that would be the game to beat in the next years in every way, visuals, gameplay and quality.

For a long time unfortunately we have been used to be in the dark when there’s a game in development, we can’t comment, give opinions or receive a feedback from the developers about our ideas and thoughts on the game until it’s too late and the game is out. And when we request for support or give our opinion, they will give none because the big company behind them wants them to make another bad quality game quickly and completly ignore the communities.

With Project CARS this is different, they want you to participate, you are essential to the game development, your constructive ideas are welcomed. For example, if you live near some important race tracks they may even ask for your help to get reference images or if you have a car that is ingame they may ask you for input on how it looks or feels in comparison with reality, they care about your opinion and your suggestions.
This is something that may seem a dream or exagerated but it isn’t, there has been alot of changes made into the game that only happened because the community said so, members constantly test the game and give feedback in order to improve the game and the reason why this is possible it's because the community is the one funding the game, we support the developers and in return they give us constant feedback about the game progress and show that our opinion matters, we are the "big company" behind them and we are the final users!

They supply you with different options called Tool/Perks, by supporting them they will give you something in return (free copy’s of the game when it comes out, your name ingame, exclusive cars and tracks) and in the meanwhile you can play the pre-alpha which is a in development version of the game that has weekly/monthly basis builds with new content and fixes.

The concept they have is the following:

PROJECT CARS represents THE ULTIMATE DRIVER JOURNEY...

FRANCHISE MODE allows you to carve out a personalized career starting in the Karting world and then progressing on to whichever motorsport specialization you prefer including Rally, Touring Cars, Open-Wheel, GT, Le Mans, and many more!

    Play CO-OP with a friend as Driver/Co-Driver

FULL TEAM MANAGEMENT... Have a large number of friends? Create, manage, and compete together!

Experience the excitement of PIT STOPS like you've never seen before!

Revolutionary PIT-2-CAR RADIO gives you the strategic advantage

DYNAMIC Time Of Day & Localized Weather make every race unique and challenging

10+ GAME MODES covering every form of motorsport

CLOUD-BASED SOCIAL NETWORK allows you to connect with friends, compare times & scores, compete and challenge each other, and share content

USER-GENERATED CONTENT - Create your own liveries, decals, tuning setups, and even events! Then share them with the world - either for free, in-game credits or even real money!

PUSHING TO THE LIMITS - Advanced physics, lighting, and AI

My nick is the same here as it is at WMD.

I would like to participate but I don't know how consistent the times will be with all the changes in the tire model these days. I stopped looking at the leaderboards since seta was added because of this.

It's a nice idea though. With the latest iterations of the STM I mostly stopped chasing lap times and concentrated on some few vehicles, mainly the Formula A and the Z4.
    It'll come though :)

Yeah i guess you guys are right, it could become a bit of a mess when you cant know for sure if someone is using STM or BTM.
What about if you guys create a Guru3D Team for the online competitions like todays Monday Night Racing ?

To me the simultaneous testing of multiplayer and STM is a real problem actually.
If I want to be fast with the STM the setup lets me drive on the tip of my toes all the time which isn't exactly perfect for multiplayer (I hate myself for bumping into others), especially as those cars that work well for me (as in giving nice feedback) aren't the same ones I was fast with when using BTM.
As the canned effects are gone now though and the cars feel weird when going back to BTM, after seeing STM, I more-or-less limited myself to race the few cars I can atm offline and give feedback about that.

Maybe we could form a group for some fun races like Caterham 7 on Nordschleife or so :)

Looks amazing, I want this game SO bad.

I'm sick of the same $hit released by EA. I want something realistic & bug free.

Bug free will be impossible, theres no such thing its a myth :p
But with the number of beta testers currently in it i believe the game will be very good at the release point. Currently it can be a nightmare due to the development state.

On the weekends theres a Nords event where people just cruise around the track with no racing porpuse, kinda like a track day. This past weekend there were around 60 players in the first test but then it crashed and on the second there were 40+.

Sounds interesting, guess I'll have a closer look at that then :) Should be enough to stress/test the system if all cars drive at cruising speed afterall.

This sounds good. There is no way I can be competitive at Nordschleife since I can rarely get a valid lap but having a fun way of practicing might be enough to learn the track.

I really need to check out the news and events thread more often.

It's both frustrating and fascinating to see how fast some people are there. I always loved to drive the Racer V8 but even my fastet lap with it was almost a minute slower than the fastest guys. Absolutely incredible.

Since i got last week the CSR Elite ive been having such a blast with the Lotus 78 at Spa trying to improve my score, yesterday i finally got closer to the record holder but still about 5 sec slower. Now i need to start messing with the car setup :s

If you don't have to hurry I'd recommend the Logitech store and their "blemished boxes". They have 30% coupons floating around pretty regularly too which helps reducing the price :)
An alternative would be a used wheel through ebay or the GT3 bundle from Fanatec: http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_e...d=118&osCsid=0f939b3eecfd59fb887c526864d55331
It's 210 pounds but has much nicer pedals and (in my opinion) the nicer wheel too.

I agree with Radical, the difference in price is well worth. Also you dont need to rush out in terms of getting a wheel since the physics of the new tire still need alot of work .

The graphic card is a much better upgrade :p

For now at least, yes ;) After getting used to the wheel I couldn't go back to my trusty XBox controller anymore.
