WoW!! Seeing that really makes you wounder what EA was thinking when they added the filters to the game. It looks so much more lifelike with the mod and I think the reviews would have been even better than they were when the game launched.
I don't have any of the expansions for it but seeing that has me wanting to get at least one so I can check it out.. I would love to see it for the single player version of the game.

Only level that look better in my opinion is Wake. Other just look weird and too cartoony. I prefer the more smoky look, so that it looks like a battlefield.
Plus I think the people saying "DICE is full of idiots this is muuuch better" are just arrogant twats. Those kind of people made the Bioware owners quit too I bet

I...don't know.
With 'real colors', I almost thought it's a level from Far Cry or Just Cause.

I think it looks much better removed. I find all the maps just look bland and way too similar as it stands. Maybe a slight tint, like 10% of what it is, but how it is currently just sucks.

I think its a great tool if you only want to change the visuals, the only bad thing about it is you can remove recoil, suppression and change bullet damage.
I think DICE are stupid for not making weapon values server side like vehicles, they are even more stupid for not checking if the cas.cat has been modified before it lets you join a public server.

As far as i know there is another mod which is working on the ranked servers, and gives the same effect and its available since january. The site itself is german, but google translate is your friend. Here is the link if you are interested. Personally I didnt tried it out, but many people claims that its working on ranked servers with punkbuster enabled.

You will get kicked on pb with this as it alters game files, you are better off using aa injectors if you want the legoland look.
also this is NOT the mod that lets you change bullet values ect but uses the same method.

They should offer 4-5 different color grades b/w vivid you know like ss3.
they made enough money from this pile already

Overall I prefer the original, the modded one is anything but natural or realistic unless you live in a cartoon world, but considering the popularity of crap like Digital Vibrance I’m not surprised people like the new one.
Not that I’m a fan of filters on games (or movies, check out Payback Director Cut compared to the original) but I was under the impression it was done in BF3 to give it a cold, emotionless feeling, plus it was their own personal artistic style, I would lose a huge amount of respect for them if they sold out and patched something like this in.
Only think I don’t agree with is that people aren’t allowed to use it, but the engine has never been mod friendly
I agree with WhiteLightning though, something in-between the two would look best to my eyes.

Yup a tool was released a few days ago that lets you change a lot of stuff like removing recoil, suppression change damage outputs, remove stuff like fog and foliage and even the sun glare and yes also the colour grading.
This tool uses the same method as the "hack" so will be kicked soon if not already.

Ah right, well that is a perfectly legitimate reason for them not allowing this mod then.
Don’t know much about FB2.0, is it due to the engine that this is the only way to get these sort of mods/hacks into the game.
Might try it out myself and see if its true as I don’t care if I get banned.

You can do the same thing with FXAA injector and not get banned. I don't get why more people don't use FXAA. It basically allows you to make the game into how ever the hell you want. That being said I think the colors of this mod look way oversaturated. But as Redemption said, people seem to be trending towards HDR light explosions and vibrant eye rape.

It's not easy to get the right tonemapping, saturation, contrast, gamma etc with FXAA.
Adjusting them feels like being at the start of TOAW Chinese campaign - WHAT PIECE SHOULD I MOVE FIRST??
ARMA 2 gets the most realistic colors for me:
