REUTERS: Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt defends his company's decision to keep an anti-Islam film on its YouTube website despite violent protests all over the Muslim world.

Schmidt said in his defense that, "We ultimately believe that the best answer to speech is more speech, not the other way around."

What is the video spewing? It is an ultra-low budget religious mockery made under false pretenses, not an anti-Pakistan or anti-Iran etc video.

Anti-American has nothing to do with it.

One of the most popular Youtube channels is "the amazing atheist" with over 100,000,000 views. He says all sorts of things about religion in general that are far worse than anything that silly 12 minute video says.

Go into Youtube and search "i hate america" there are tons of videos, hahaha.

I saw that on the Onion, hehe.

I actually think that Youtube has done far less removing of videos than they used to (music videos come to mind). There are a lot of official channels, VEVO and such that can upload those things.

As far as I am aware, they only remove pornography, ultra violence (ogrish type material), and some copyright related stuff. You can still find pretty much any song you want.

Freedom of speech is one of those depressing subjects, most people want it but the law has to defend people against others inciting racial hatred and so on.

Pure freedom of speech is always going to find someone being offended.

Look at what happened to Salman Rushdies after the release of The Satanic Verses. 99.9% of the people calling for his death or plotting it didn't even read it and when they did they actually saw that there was very little to complain about.

i like how south park mocks every religion and has even had mohammed on it before (this was before facebook/twitter though). when the whole cartoon riot started a few years ago they removed that video and had to censor their newer one.

we're all laughing at the religious nutcases, and the fact that they're muslim makes it even funnier. it's not so much a personal attack on a religion, but the rest of the world laughing at what a few extremists do. feel bad for the everyday muslim who doesn't give a **** about all of this drama and trivial garbage.

I don't agree, I think there is plenty of stuff on YouTube that fits your description, it's just that Americans generally don't get a branch in their twat like these savages do, so no one pays any attention.

That said, Google still removes plenty from YouTube that they deem insensitive to various other groups, so this guy is still a hypocrite.
