Default Need help painting my case :D - 09-25-2012, 03:04 | posts: 761 | Location: Pacific Ring of Fire

Hi. I'll be having some fun with an extra case I have. It's old but it's one of those good mid tower chassis made with heavy materials. It doesn't have a brand so sadly I couldn't find a picture of it lol.

Anyways, my question is about the type of paint that I should be using. I researched a bit and found that spray painting is the way to go. I have also read about using a primer.

Should I really get a primer? I'm not sanding anything with sandpaper. I just want to color the case in a pretty pink and white

Also, there are some parts of the case where I would like to paint a design using a paint brush. What type of paint should I use for this? Is Enamel good? I really don't know any other type of pain lol

If anyone could help me out that would be great! Thanks

Well not an expert. But how much steel vs plastic are you dealing with? Some paints are gonna work better than others on each surface.

I would suggest looking at some of the other users Build Logs. Plenty of painting going on in some of those. Will probably get you in the right direction for paint and proper application

Hey hey hey thanks INSTG8R for the reply.

I just finished repainting my case! Turns out ended going with a matte black spray paint instead of white and pink.

Here are some pics!

looks good. Almost looks like an old CompuCase tower.

For future reference....use a self-etching primer on bare aluminum. Helps the paint stick better. For plastic or steel, it's not really necessary with most aerosol paints. Primer does work well for hiding minor scuffs though.

Ahh thanks for that advice sykozis. I will definitely keep that in mind as I plan on doing another super old case. It's kinda fun to do once you get started on one!
