Samsung 840 will be available shortly, the 128GB version of that would be good otherwise, the OCZ Vertex 4 (firmware 1.5) is a good option.

840 will use TLC memory... (840 pro will still be MLC)
Slower, and wears out faster.
The change from MLC to TLC is a much larger decline in performance and life span than was the change from SLC to MLC, personally, not a fan...

Samsung 840 Pro, Samsung 830
Plextor M5 Pro, Plextor M5S
Plextor M3 Pro, Plextor M3S
Corsair Neutron GTX, Corsair Neutron
OCZ Vertex 4
These are my current top picks. Not sorted from top to bottom, but models on the left side are faster and cost more than those on the right. Models on the right still offer great performance and have better value.
Any of these drives will give you amazing performance.

i have 2 830 samsung..
+ intel 520
fastest for boot o/s 520
2nd fastest 830
last 330 intel
the 520 great for multi file access, while the 830 samsung great for seq writes (data writing in a row), overall they both good
the intel 330 underperforms , but ok
if you want the fastest the 520, 2nd is the 830 samsung,on par with each other, the intel has great trim support n software, 1 click to trim o/s (non raid win 7 64bit), while the samsung software can over prevision data for longer life(you lose some more space)
intel 330 etc for more budget pc, great for read only cache via eboostr pro, it slower than both.
get 16+g ram make a 4g ram drive to move your temp files on it, + disable pagefile
or move them to a hdd (d:\?)
never do a full format with a ssd , quick format only.
use sdtools to optimize pc
keep away from ocz high failure rates..
also basically data on ssd can drop in speed reading /writing if data is in non compress(word doc) or compress form(like zip/cab/jpg/mp3 etc)
some ssd (budget)do a bad job of compress data, while other higher end models are fast for both. dont get budget ssd...
