Default DVI monitor output to VGA switch? - 09-24-2012, 20:02 | posts: 1,391 | Location: Chicago

Guys, need some help.

We have a lab here at school that currently has a VGA-out monitor going into a VGA switch that then goes to a projector (don't ask me why it is all setup this way, I just need to work with the current setup to make it work).

We want to replace the monitor with a Cintiq tablet, which has a fixed DVI cable.

We purchased a DVI to VGA adapter, where the DVI from the Cintiq plugs into the VGA of the switch. This is great in theory, but it appears this signal does not work because of analog vs digital confusion.

Do I just need to get a DVI-I to VGA switch in order to make this work?

Thanks.

You talk about using a projector but then say you want to replace the monitor with a tablet.
What monitor and how are you using a tablet as a monitor?
Tablets do not accept video input.

What do you mean by "has a fixed DVI cable"?
Tablets dont have fixed cables.

Assuming the tablet can be used, does it have DVI-I for sure or is it DVI-D?

Explain what you are doing in depth and with what.
Give us the model of the tablet.
