New gaming laptop

Hy guys, so i finally decided to grab a gaming laptop, i'll be working abroad for 10 months and i don't wanna die without my games

.

So, i can spend a maximum of 1200 euros so, here's what i intend to get:

what you guys think? any other brand better then this ASUS in this price range?

Yes, but i'm not sure on how you would get it to romania.

The p150em with a amd 7970m would be faster in terms of gpu performance, by near double, but it might be expensive to import? Dunno, I checked out a couple clevo resellers in romania, one listed a p150em with a nvidia 680m (marginally faster than the 7970m, better driver support, fair amount more expensive) and it listed one with similar specs for 1885 USD

But since romania is in the EU, check out some other clevo resellers around about to see if you can get a better deal then ship it over.

What you listed there is good, but for the same price you can get a p150em, or you should, my friend got one of the asus ones there at the same time I got this p150em, we ended up with similar specs but mines just has the newer gpu, a 670m is a re-badged 570m, which it seems offers the same performance of a 470m, so a bit behind.

yeah i know about the gpu on the asus, but what can you tell me abut this clevo, i never heard pf them, how's the cooling on it, also the quality of the materials used..

oo i see now, i found it in germany and it cost 900euros but it's barebone, i need to buy the cpu, ram, optic drive and hdd separately..i don't think it's worth the truble, plus the big difference between the gtx670, and gtx675m is the clocks, yeah the bus is bigger and it has a bit more shaders but if i oc it a bit i'll reach almost the performance of a gtx675m..

yeah i've checked the romanian site and with a gtx680 it's to much, 1440euros or something..i don't know, still considering the asus or getting the p150em with the gtx675 cause that will be around the same price as the asus.

There are advantages and disadvantages, i like the asus cause of the big display, cooler design, what i like about this p150m is that i can change m gpu with a better one. still i need to think, from my point of view the re branded gtx670 is kinda enough to game at high details without a problem and with a bit of oc i can easily increase it's performance.

Well, you've answered most questions yourself through your own research, but its matte design, largely unbranded, it's not a flashy laptop but its not ugly, it's not like it's going to turn heads with people going "ohhh is that the new mac". Cooling works fine with the 7970m, I usually prop mines up just to make the fans a bit quieter, but I can leave it flat and play games and its not as if it melts or crashes.

It will likely get hot if you play games on your legs, because the vents are on the left and right side of the laptop.

Got further questions then ask.

But for price, i'm pretty sure the 7970m is only around $150 more than the 675m, when I checked anyway. 680m is a mad price, lilke $300 more than the 7970m, which I felt was not worth it.

But even still, the 675m to the 670m is a pretty big difference I think.

If you really want a 17" display then clevo/sager offer a 17" version, the p170em, it's about a kilo heavier overall.

The weight doesn't bother me, cause i won't carry it on me every day. There is a difference of 15-20% max..that difference can be equaled by oc-ing the gtx670 a bit, that's why i don't think it's worth buying the gtx675. The gtx7970 or the gtx680 it's another story.

So seeing the things above, and the fact that the p170em could be difficult cu get, i think i'm gonna stay with the asus.

The asus gaming laptop you choose is great, but there are other better choice. Like, MSI G Series GT70 Laptop, it features GTX 675M GPU, the price is just around $1500,

Not to mention that the 670m and 675m are old chips.

My guess is because they're a site that looks at bang for buck, and most models that come with a 680m or 7970m is over $2K in prices.

Last I saw the 7970m isn't much more than the 675m, around £100 at best.

I don't think so that MSI laptop would perfect for gaming purpose.

Guys i got it, the ASUS G75VW-T1028D, it's great, loving it. The gpu handles games pretty well max details and 2xAA (which is not a problem) and it doesn't heat up at all 70'C gpu full load and 62'C cpu. Also i payed for it 1600$, which in my opinion was a good deal. And another thing that i love about ASUS is that they have a lot of little gadgets that makes your life easier.
